I remember people were celebrating in the street when Bin Laden was killed and I found that unpleasant.
I don't believe in celebrating anyone's death either.

Your position is that we should all show respect whenever "someone" passes. You did not qualify your remarks by saying "when someone I like" passes; you said SOMEONE.

Who were those people, celebrating bin Laden's death ? ? Primarily, those in NYC. It wasn't wide spread, there were no riots, or vandalism, that I ever saw reported.

So which is it to be then? DO we behave respectfully regarding the dead, or are we allowed to celebrate the death of our enemies?
To my mind, no person's death should be celebrated, but it may be a time for reflection on their actions which have caused pain. I personally don't like all the cheering and celebrations around Maggie, but also didn't like the jumping for joy re Osama. I try to be a bit consistent, you see ;)
