It just occurred to me... I don't know what Faith's surname is...?
Without looking it up do any of you know ? I don't recall it being mentioned in either Buffy or Angel, but I could be wrong.
ALso. Isn't it time for a Faith Spin-off!?

I've seen her last name somewhere, but I can't remember what it was. Or letter what it started with.
(I'm not looking it up, 'cause that would be cheating, yes?)
Well, Faith is reformed now. She could kick demon ass in Cleveland.
Or.... Cincinnati! She could work at a wacky rock station by day and stake vamps at night.

A curiosity isn't it?
I still haven't looked it up but it wouldn't be cheating :D I just thought it interesting and wondered if anyone else here was familiar with her surname.
I read that the Spin-off was offered to Eliza but she turned it down to do Tru Calling. I wonder whether it'd be of any interest now?
...and what happened to that supposed reboot of Buffy without Joss? Was that ditched in the end?

The Avengers happened.
The people wanting to do the spin-off probably thought "Um, yeah, maybe we shouldn't hijack *this* guy's work".

Glad it did too.

I'd like to think it was out of respect, but I dare say that's not the case; more like they just couldn't guarantee the revenue.
I'm sure somewhere down the line it'll happen though. It's kind of the nature of entertainment, and in fairness, Buffy was such a phenomenon; the character living on beyond that which Sarah did to it isn't a ridiculous notion.

Faith is a fictional character created by Joss Whedon for the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Played by actress Eliza Dushku in the TV series and by Whitney Thompson in the motion comic series, Faith was introduced in the third season of Buffy and was a focus of that season's overarching plot. She returned for shorter story arcs on Buffy and its spin-off, Angel. The character's story is continued in the comic book series Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight, and she also appears in apocryphal material such as other comic books and novels. Faith was set to receive her own spin-off television series after the final season of Buffy, but Eliza Dushku declined the offer, and the series was never made. Faith will co-star in the 25-issue comic book Angel and Faith beginning in August 2011 under the banner of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Nine, the story taking place mostly in London and the surrounding area.[1] Seven years after the character's creation, Whedon granted her the surname Lehane for a role-playing game and subsequent material. The last issue of Season Eight was the first source officially confirmed to be canon that referred to Faith by her full name.

The project was abandoned before then, even. Apparently the newbie writer who's pitch they loved, turned in a script which they really, really didn't.
But it had nothing to do with Avengers. Heck, if anything, they might have been able to erroneously use Joss' name and Avengers to boost ticket sales had it happened, not the other way around. Remember, 90% of the people who saw Avengers don't really give a flip who Joss is, or what he did before, or who might reboot it.
Excuse me while I soak in all these sweet, sweet conservative tears.

Curious how he'd never come up with her name in the show.
Cheers Penguin. That's settled that.

This was entirely spitball speculation on my part, as I have no idea what's going on.
Questions:
Is Joss taken more seriously, now, in the film industry, because of the success of The Avengers?
And if so, would that mean a producer or whatever would be weary of continuing or rebooting one of Mr. Whedon's creations without his involvement?
RE: Penguin
Hmmm, Faith Lehane.... yeah. That makes her seem somehow more down to Earth and sweeter. Damn, now I want a spin off even more!
