Liberated women-folk are angry, defensive, and see men as the enemy.

At least, according to Fox.

Were it from any other site, Id assume it was comedy... but they actually mean this stuff. Im betting Wulfie has this printed out and taped on the wall of his cave.

The problem with a LOT of men today is sooo many of them are vastly incompetant, in communication, in handling the slightest emotion, in performing basic everyday tasks in maintainence or health.

Women have this expectation that men should evolve or at least attempt to rise to the challenge, and it just ain't happening. Many men today are more likely to meld with an electronic device than a human... Yeah, that tends to piss us off when you can't even make an effort to halfway pay attention...

Here's where I have to give the standard "But I'm not saying ALL men are like that" and I do so for the guys, because most women would inherently know that and I wouldn't even HAVE to add that little disclaimer......But I know from experience that many of you guys can't even fathom that when I talk about "some men" I may not be referring to YOU ..........................

Now, cue the passive-agressives that can't have a discussion about the flaws in THEIR sex without pointing out the flaws in women to make themselves feel better about having a penis.

Eh, most of us are disassociated and unable to connect meaningfully with anyone else, and for damn sure all the rules and games shit that goes on in the dating scene basically sabotages any effort at meaningful coordination between the sexes.

Being either gender is HORRIBLE. Finding good relationships is HORRIBLE. For everyone. There isn't one group that's more a victim in this than another. How a person handles it and whether they carry resentment around is a big factor in how people will react to them - if you come across as resentful, interest in you will take a MAJOR nosedive.

Unless they're one of those people that like it kinky-abusive and who read non-con fics or something, but those people kinda squick me the hell out. To each their own I guess.

Hello,

I'm pretty okay with it. It's working as designed so far.

Women aren’t women anymore.

To say gender relations have changed dramatically is an understatement. Ever since the sexual revolution, there has been a profound overhaul in the way men and women interact. Men haven’t changed much – they had no revolution that demanded it – but women have changed dramatically.

In a nutshell, women are angry. They’re also defensive, though often unknowingly. That’s because they’ve been raised to think of men as the enemy. Armed with this new attitude, women pushed men off their pedestal (women had their own pedestal, but feminists convinced them otherwise) and climbed up to take what they were taught to believe was rightfully theirs.

Now the men have nowhere to go.

It is precisely this dynamic – women good/men bad – that has destroyed the relationship between the sexes. Yet somehow, men are still to blame when love goes awry. Heck, men have been to blame since feminists first took to the streets in the 1970s.

But what if the dearth of good men, and ongoing battle of the sexes, is – hold on to your seats – women’s fault?

Jeezus H. Hassenpfeffer! That is some ugly damn nonsense right there. And leave it to FOX News to get a woman to preach it for 'em.

I think the central problem here is "men haven't changed." Why the hell not? The world has changed radically around them and they still want to play at John Wayne Injun Fighter? The epidemic of depression in the male population that leads to the astounding hygene issues we've come to take for granted in men (cf: grown men with "skid marks" in their underwear--really? They can't even bother to wipe themselves thoroughly??? And this is just guys being guys? No it ain't. It's depression and self-loathing) is not women's fault and women are not going to be able to do a damn thing about it. Men gotta deal with that problem 'cause it doesn't just go away on its own. Men need to be able to use the phrase "inner life" in a sentence and discover their self-esteem and figure out what they like about their actual flesh and blood selves and not the endless, outdated fantasies of masculinity handed down to 'em from the movies. It's killing 'em and they got no one to blame.

HK: Don't know about all this stuff that says men are emotionally stunted, not sure I believe it.

But the stuff in the Fox opinion is grade A gender role hogwash. People should be comfortable being whoever they want to be, and not rate themselves relative to masculinity or femininity.

As for being on pedestals, when has that ever been a good place to be? What is this, the American gladiator version of sex relations, always at a distance, always unstable, knock the other person down for success?

Where are you getting "emotionally stunted?" I was talking about depression.

^Generally speaking, talking about an "inner life" is an issue of emotional expression, not just depression.

So it sounded to me like in the middle of talking about male depression you also called guys emotionally stunted for holding to one specific outlook on masculinity.

So, are you saying that being unacquainted with one's emotional life is the same as being emotionally stunted? As I understand depression it is a flattening of one's emotional experiences because feeling one's emotions at their full force is overwhelming. To me "emotionally stunted" suggests an actual lack of emotion which IS a male stereotype and which I absolutely repudiate. It suggests that there is something shameful about being male and that's not true either. Why put words in my mouth anyway?

I thought that was the point you were making. If it's not, I will take your clarification at face value and say that I misunderstood.

I am not familiar with that use of "emotionally stunted." My understanding is emotionally stunted is not a lack of emotions, but rather an incomplete understanding or expression of those emotions (sometimes due to immaturity or lack of emotional growth). In more psychological terms, I thought it has to do with both affect (blunted/flattened) and alexithymia.

For example, I have a blunted affect and alexithymia, and am emotionally stunted. This does not mean I lack emotions entirely.

Here are definitions of the term as found on google.

It is not putting words in your mouth when we simply seem to have different definitions for what it means.

Now, if my meaning of emotionally stunted is close to what you're describing, then I object to your suggestion that men tend to be that way. That strikes me as some feel-good thing some women came up with about how more in touch with their emotions and "earthy" they are than men, in contrast with offensive stereotypes about womenly "hysteria" and bad/irrational/inappropriate emotional expression. Though I would also object to the suggestion that men have no emotions as well.
