If Obama had a lock on all the votes of the poorest 47% of Americans, Romney would have no chance in hell. But because poor conservatives routinely vote against their economic interests, we are obliged to listen to Romney dig himself deeper and deeper into political obsolesence.

Hey there guys,

Let me take a crack at it.

In his "speech" Romney does eventually say that he's going after those undecided, undeclared independent voters that make up about 5-6% of the country (his numbers). On that we are clear. Now, had he left it there - no problem. But he gets Foot-in-mouth disease and says what he says about the 47% of Americans - you know, those pesky freeloaders who don't pay taxes, who by the way, a great many are from the Greatest Generation - those folks who both he and his father owe their cushy lives to - the folks who fought the greatest menace, The Nazis. Those are part of the 47%.

Also too, families who actually work for a living, but who rightfully and lawfully pay no taxes because of the way the Tax code is written. A fellow once told me that we should pay our fair share in taxes, but that we should take advantage of every allowable tax break/credit. So, a family of five making $50K a year would pay no tax, if they take advantage of all the tax breaks, etc. Sorry Mitt, these guys have jobs - whoooops!!! you just insulted hard working Americans (both Dems and Repubs) that are NOT holding out their hands to the Government. There goes that theory. Say bye-bye to those votes. Then there's the elderly, who don't pay income tax on there social security checks. Bye-bye!!!
Then there's students - Bye-bye!!! And so on. Oh, it gets better.

Then he says if he were latino, well, that in itself is an insult. Here's a man who has millions, no hundreds of millions in several off-shore accounts and he's crying - boo hoo, I can't catch a break, if only my skin were brown, boo hoo! Believe me Mitt, we don't want you. You're a sorry excuse of a human being. What a racist! To be clear, he's saying that latinos get all the breaks in this country - REALLY!!! News to me. But what's really happening is that this country is becoming more of a melting pot every day, and he's scared shitless. He doesn't have a clue how to conduct himself humanwise. He even insulted his own wife - what a douche! And this is the best you got!? McCain at least served his country. All Romney does is milk people, and this country, dry.

Let's talk handouts. Romneycare in Mass - first, he reached across the aisle and was endorsed by the Kennedys regarding the Health Reform law. But how was it financed? Good question! By the Federal government, that's how...............

Wait a sec! Isn't he running his campaign on the premise that government is too darn big, freeloaders, entitled to handouts, etc. Doesn't that fly in the face of his criticism of Obama and Dems spending too much and adding to the national debt? Hmmmmmm..........it makes you think, don't it? Could someone explain to me what has changed between now and 2006 when he championed Health Reform in his state? Why is he so dead-set against the Affordable Care Act? By the way, the article posted above is interesting and gives a good overall briefing on the 2 health care reform.

P.S. Romney must be in excellent shape these days, because he's sure doing an awful lot of back pedaling.......

I think he's trying to say that voters would really flock to him as a presidential candidate if he looked more latino, or if he were Hispanic. Because, you know, if there's one thing you need to know about this country, it's that there's no way we'd ever elect 43 wealthy white guys to the top office. We're known around the world for the incredible diversity of our leadership.

What I love about this whole thing is the unstated assumption by Romney -- and of the Right Wing blogger who pulled the quoted "47 Percent" figure more or less out of his ass in the first place -- that "Does not owe Federal tax" is the same as "Is a welfare queen." That "Earns too little to owe Income Tax" or "Belongs to an exempted group" (such as any member of our armed forces serving in a combat zone), is semantically identical to "Parasite on Real Americans".

My son, a good family man, who used to work in construction until the economy tanked, recently managed to get a job working for a local charity after some years on various forms of relief -- it's hard, low-paying work, and it's damned hard to make ends meet. Harder than it was when he was on the dole. But he's still slogging out there, every week. And I'm damned proud of him.

And if Mr. Romney wants to imply that my son is less of an American than his $50,000-a-plate buddies, he knows what he can kiss, and when.

Seriously, too many people of color were reaching the American dream. Romney and his $50K a plate buddies want to be the only ones to play with their toys. Once Obama wedged his way to the top (despite furious attempts to derail his journey), the elite class went to DefCon 4. He cannot keep up with his lies. Seriously, he needs a new type of bike - the faster he pedals forward, the faster he goes backwards.

All well said, RJ - I am highlighting this quote cause as an Anarchist I take some level of crap for supposedly "endorsing the system", although my use of a vote is as a form of condemnation rather than support, as expressed above, in combination with the desperation measure of incidently putting less competent (and therefore less dangerous to me) morons at the levers that control the world, or that people THINK, often BELIEVE, control the world, rather...

It isn't even that I think it'll make that much difference, so much as I want my voice heard, even if faintly, even if ignored, I feel a moral imperative to offer warning *before* escalating to less pleasant measures, even if that warning goes unnoticed.
