The hilarious irony is that he was the one who demanded that the whole tape be released, so that people could hear him in context.

Yup, heard that one too, and more. They're leaking it a bit at a time, and I'm having a BALL listening. I bet candidates from here on will be VERY careful what they say, and/or screen EVERYONE who comes in for any item that could possibly take a video!
I'm with whoever guessed it was a worker who recorded it. Placement (not among the audience, but on a table behind them), and what some of the idjits Romney was talking to said/asked, pretty much clinches it. None of THEM would be caught dead recording his remarks, or theirs.
One thing that's slipped by is that working people generally pay 13% in payroll taxes--LESS THAN ROMNEY PAID, at least in the tax returns he's willing to let us see. Just amusing, nothing more. As is the fact that a video of his mother has been released saying George Sr. was on welfare after he "immigrated" back to the U.S. I guess that makes Romney one of "us", eh?
I'm certainly offended that my having paid into SSI and Medicare all my working life and now getting it (well, some of it--my husband still works (at 74) so we can keep our private health insurance, so Medicare only pays what's left over after that).
I see, in their desperation, the Romney campaign has now released a video of Obama saying he's in favor of redistribution. Go, guys, your actions only scream to the world how desperate you are!
Me, I'm just smiling at the fact that Obama leads in all but one of the swing states currently. Certainly anything can still happen, no question about that. But I pay NO attention whatsoever to polls on the whole country--they are totally meaningless as long as we have the electoral college. It's the swing states who decide the election ( 
), so those are the only ones I pay attention to. And they ain't lookin' good for the guy...

No surprise there, Mike. Bear in mind that their "first priority" has been to defeat Obama all along; to hell with what might be good for the country or help our first responders or our military or anyone ELSE, their "job" is to defeat EVERYTHING.
Another thing that's been missed in all this is Romney's mentality: If I don't do something for you, you won't support me". He seems to have no concept whatsoever that people might vote for him even if he doesn't "offer" tax breaks (which he's actually only offering the rich). He apparently believes that the ONLY thing that will decide people to vote for him is if he GIVES them something. It's a perfect example of a BUSINESSMAN's mentality, and probably works quite well in business. But as President? 
I'm actually surprised the pundits haven't picked up on that, it's so obvious. His thinking is: The government gives them something for nothing, they don't pay taxes, so my offering a tax break means, since they don't PAY taxes, it won't get them to vote for me. Wow. Leaves out every other reason anyone might choose to vote for him. What a mentality!

Some of us have well known from the get that Mitt Romney is a whole new level of corrupt. And on the most personal level. What's great is now everyone can hear it for themselves from the horse's mouth. This guy's political career is over.

"This guy's political career is over." Gawd, I hope you're right, Cav, but given that there are many who are DEFENDING him, as well as telling him to run with it, I'll hold my hopes close to my vest for now.
But yes, you're absolutely right, come to think of it. While candidates may say undipolmatic things in private and to raise funds, I don't think we'd find QUITE such the openly-disgusting things from most of them if their private conversations were revealed. About some Republicans recently, I wouldn't be so sure, tho'...their hatred is pretty solidified.

Two factors drive the skewing of tax expenditures toward the well-off. First, the more money you make, the more likely you are to engage in activities the tax code favors, whether it is saving for retirement, purchasing expensive homes with larger mortgages or giving to a favored charity.
Second, people in high income tax brackets get a higher percentage of their deductions returned in the form of lower taxes. A dollar given to charity by someone in the 35 percent tax bracket reduces federal taxes on that income by 35 cents, while a dollar given to charity by someone in the 10 percent tax bracket only reduces their taxes by a dime.
Some tax-favored activities are almost entirely the province of the well-to-do. For instance, the capital gains and dividends exclusion – it is taxed at a flat 15 percent rate instead of normal rates – reduced taxes by $77.7 billion in 2011. Fully three-quarters of that tax break went to filers in the top 1 percent of the income distribution. The bottom 60 percent of the population received just 1.1 percent of its benefits.
Romney, who includes himself among the makers, is a major beneficiary of this special treatment in the tax code.
