Oh it's true - as usual with PN he's exaggerating the numbers significantly, but it does happen.
Of course all of the primary witnesses ended up conveniently dead, but not before forwarding some of this stuff to others just in case, and the story was carried on Indymedia and a few alternative news sources which are relatively trustworthy.

Hell, one of the things we were sending goons to Nicaruagua to teach the Contras was how to properly hide and sanitize a mass grave so that the remains would be hard to find and impossible to identify, which makes ya wonder exactly where our boys learned it from, neh ?

General policy in field-ops where there's little scrutiny from brass, press, or the supposedly-in-charge civilian oversight is Shoot-Shovel-Shuddap.

So yeah, it's credible allright, just look at how many of them poor bastards get bounced from VA hospitals and denied medical treatment when wounded - and given the severity of some of those injuries, where the hell you think they GO ?

Shit, not to make it even uglier, but a good chunk of so-called AWOLs or deserters are in fact either accidently or intentionally killed by their fellow troops and dumped in a hole somewhere on base, which is one of many reasons the army never wants to let go of the property - were you to dig up the firing ranges at Ft Jackson you'd find a damn lot of bones, that for sure.
