I have wrestled with the "What's the point of living" question for a long time, all my life really.

Recently, I finally found an answer that makes sense to me. An answer to the question, "Why bother living?"

A lady who runs a rape shelter for orphans in the Congo said, "You can't help if you're dead." She means, you can't help anyone else if you're not alive. You have to live to give. So others can live.

What's the point of their living, so they can give.

Maybe it doesn't make sense to anyone else. But life suddenly makes sense to me.

Plus living is fun, even when it isn't.

Every day is tinged with pain. Physical pain.
I have a wife who loves me,so I don't complain to her.
I have children and grandchildren who complain to me about everything from money to wanting an Elmo DVD. So, I keep my pain to myself.
You, however, I don't know.
Some of you are like me. Waiting for that moment in the day where the pain lets up enough so that you can breathe easily.
There are over the counter pain medications that help.
A prescription would probably solve my problem, but I'll be damned if I'm going to become an addict to pain meds (Because I know I would!) and lose that part of me that lets me lay my head on a pillow at night and go to sleep.
Muscle aches and joint pains happen to everybody. I guess I just manage it my own way.
So, my life at least, is tolerable.
Loving family, in spite of heaping their personal pains onto mine, helps get me through.
I'm tolerating a bit of pain right now as I type these words.
But as to LIFE being intolerable?
Please.
Learn to distract yourself from whatever pains you.
I stopped watching the news at the suggestion of a friend and I found that much of my worry vanished.
You'll find a way to tolerate life.
You're you, after all. You don't take crap off of anybody. Especially life.

I think that maybe having the pain, physical or emotional, as I must endure every day, strengthens some people's resolve to find the ecstacy in order to get through the agony. I'm thankful every day for the good things in my life, which are somewhat like yours, family, friends, the beauty of the earth, the fact that I do get to do fun things with those I love, creativity, goals and dreams, doing things that fulfill me, helping others. Sometimes its really hard though to see that when you're feeling like luh suh though. Today has been okay for me though and I want to live for a long time so I can do all the things I love inspite of all the things I hate.

Know what was the BEST thing in Transmet?? That pic that says "Political canvassers meet resistance downtown..." and then "They say they like Politicians, but couldn't eat a whole one.... Political canvassers apparently keep better and mature nicely under the floorboards" Still makes me giggle....

The only way I get through my day is by being as tough-ass as life has been at times on me. And by having a really wacky, morbid sence of humor

Well, that whole rant in "Monstering" sends me into giggle fits, especially knowing that at one time Patrick Stewart was being considered to maybe play Spider in a live action version - and when someone happened to question his ability to play the character, stood up in the restaurant and dispensed that rant in full spider wackjob mode...

I'd have paid good money just to see that.

Post got et

You 'n me both hon
Too bad Jean Luc isn't a few years younger, I have faith in his ability to act, but acting 50 again would be a stretch...

I had heard they REALLY REALLY wanted Tim Roth to do it. I like him too, but yanno Spider walks around naked quite a bit, and it's gonna be hard enough to clean up for ANY kind of release. Tim Roth naked?? Unh unh...

I think Spider oughta be black, him hanging out with white chicks all the time would make more sense (oh no she didn't) and could make the glasses look good.
You have have any thoughts on who would play the filthy assistants?

I gotta admit I didn't get the whole Sex Puppet thing the first time I read it. I think I get it now. Think he was trying to say that in some point in the past people stopped knowing where to draw the line, and stopped doing anything about it. I was kinda glad when the left Katy Perry offa Sesame Street, heh...

Bah, I will never, EVER forgive Sesame Street for what they did to the Cookie Monster, *growwwl*!

Oh, did ya know, I couldn't find anywhere on the whole bloody net that had the monstering monologue, so I dug out my Vertigo Print issue #5 and imma transcribe it by hand just so others know what were talkin about here.

Quote:

Ylena: What are we achieving here ?

Spider: Right then, girls.
Attack wombs to the ready.
This is about the journalism of attachment.
Monstering is, ultimately, about giving a shit.
It's about giving something back to these bastards, these people whom we somehow let run our goddamn lives for us.
Giving them a taste of what it means to be us.
Every law that curbs my basic human freedoms; every lie about the things I care for; every crime committed against me by their politics -- that's what makes me get up and hound these fuckers, and I'll do that till the day I die, or until my brain dries up or something.
THAT's what we achieve, we show them they're accountable.
We show them that just as they try to herd us back into cages of quiet mediocrity, we can chase them back to fucking hell with the TRUTH.
It's the JOURNALISM OF ATTACHMENT, CARING about the world you report on.
Some people say that's bad journalism, that there should be a detatched, cold, un-biased view of the world in our news media.
And if that's what you want, there are security cameras everywhere that you could watch tapes of.
I want to see humans talking about human life, personally.
I WANT to see people who give a shit about the world, I want...
I want to see POSSESSED journalists, YES!
I want to see people like ME, rising up with hate, laying about them with fiery eyes and steaming genetalia -- possessed by ancient volcano gods from the polynesian islands, waving vast breasts and improbable penises at the secret chiefs of the world -- NAKED GLOWING GOD-JOURNALISTS BROWN-TROUSERING THE NAUGHTY TWENTY-FOUR HOURS A DAY! A NEW PLANET EARTH --
WAITER! - FRESH UNDERWEAR, SEVEN BLANKETS AND A BUCKET OF MOIST TOWELETTES!!

Of course, it doesn't carry as well without the visuals of Spider progressively zerking out and climbing on the table to shout down from on-high while his assistants kind of flip out.... heheheh.

I dunno who'd be good for Channith, but remember she's REAL tall and built pretty strong, curves notwithstanding, but I got the PERFECT suggestion for Ylena...
Michelle Rodriguez - she's the right size and build, and her disposition both on and off stage is as suited to the part as anyone alive.

Totally agree! Spot on!

It's too bad Wesley Snipes is in jail for tax evasion...I think he'd have made a good Spider-he's been away for a while, he's was awesome at kickin ass, he's done future in Demolition Man, when he gets out he'd be the right age(about 50) and probably be pretty angry, HAH. Not too bad of a match with Michelle there either. If all the white drug addicts in Hollywood get another chance, I guess he oughta to...

Yeah, that pissed me off when they turned Cookie Monster into Veggie Monster, talk about creepy and no fun and just plain ... not cool. I didn't believe the rumors were true until I'd heard it from enough people.
