hi all I've been in Melbourne 5months amd am wanting to make friends. my workmates r nice but I dont relate to them socially. anyone know if there r browncoat or Firefly groups in Melbourne I can join?

Hey Rose.
Sorry for your lack of friends in Oz but I can't really help as I'm on the other side of the world. Just thought I'd post to let you know that you are not alone in this thread.
I completely get the 'not being able to socialise with work folk' thing. The last group of people I worked with were great, fun and we all had a laugh and got on well within the work environment. Outside of work they were all about pubs, drinking, and getting drunk (especially at the weekend). I don't drink alcohol and I don't like pubs/clubs so I was never going to fit in socially with them. Also they all loved watching football (I can't stand it) and I liked playing golf which they found boring and pointless.
It was just never going to happen outside of the workplace.
Have you tried just doing a google search for Melbourne Browncoats? It does vaguely ring a bell that I have seen a sig banner somewhere for a person/group in that area. Or I got confused with all the other voices in my head.

I hope you find some new friends to run with (a slang term for hang out with) soon. I remember you making the move there and I hope its going well for the most part, sounds like it is but friends are important and so I hope you can find some Browncoats there to get connected with soon.

Hi Wishy....I sent a wave back to your last email....hmmm there must be a connection problem. My Brother in London often doesn't get my emails either. I might try sending one from my phone tonight so keep an eye out and let me know if you don't get it I loved the pics and your description of events...thanks for the heads up re your in-laws coming this way :) thankfully Melbourne's huge and I live on the raggedy edge of the city amongst the almost Reavers in a place called Frankston. Actually Frankston gets a bad rap but I don't mind it. I have gone to chat a few times but you guys are always gone by the time i get there. Rivertam must never sleep :)

Thanks Rionare and Iwaves. I'll get there...I'm a bit picky socially so I'm sure that doesn't help (i.e. I like people to be sincere, decent and respectful...makes for some barriers :. I waves I'll check out the sites you suggested Ta Muchly.
