Yes, Hammer films has returned a couple years ago but they haven't gone back to their Victorian Gothic horror roots....until now. Man I cannot wait to see this one.

George Lucas looks to be making good movies again.

Spielberg too? Awesome.

I'm sure I've heard of a few more, but the only ones I can think of right now are Apollo 18 and Adventures of Tintin.

I was actually coming on to this site just now thinking about posting a thread like this as a sort of follow up to the Best Of 2011 So Far thread.
You already did it so thanks I guess.

I too am looking forward to The Woman In Black. It's a great story and one of my faves of all time. Hopefully they'll do it justice. It'll also be interesting to see how Radcliffe fairs now that Harry Potter is done. He was good in November Boys so there is some promise.

The only others I have a real, solid interest in that are released this year or early next year are:

Tintin - Spielberg + Jackson.
Hugo - And now for something completely different. It's Scorcese so I'm pretty much in from the start and I like the fact that he's trying his hand at a family adventure movie - despite what the naysayers may think.
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy - Gary Oldman seems to fit the role of Smiley in the similar way to what Alec Guiness did. With a top notch supporting cast and excellent looking trailer this could be an great remake.

There are other movies that I have a passing interest in and will probably see at some point bit these few are the main ones.

And lest we forget there is also the next Twilight film. Anyone here willingly going to see it?
Nope, I didn't think so.

There really hasn't been any huge, must-see releases this year. There have been great films, surprising films and highly entertaining movies but nothing on the scale of Dark Knight, Potter, Inception or Toy Story etc. The rest of the year doesn't seem to have any either.
Of course the rest of next year is a different story with The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, Dark Shadows and The Hobbit to name a few.

Avengers, Cabin in the Woods, Dark Knight Rises, The Hobbit, Superman: Man of Steel (or whatever it's being called). I'll give Spiderman a tentative looking forward to. That one seems to be on the edge.

I'm looking forward, to varying degrees, the big releases (Avengers, Dark Knight, Hobbit, etc).

Beyond those, I'm looking forward to:

Illysium - Niel Blomkamp's fllow-up to district 13. Don't know much about it other than it's Sci-Fi, and there have been pics of Matt Damon made up as some sort of wounded cyborg that have piqued my interest.

Pacific Rim - Guillermo Del Toro's giant monster movie, currently shooting.

Gravity - Alphonso Curan's new sci-fi survival thriller with Sandra Bullock and George Cloony. It's essentially the sub drowning scene from The Abyss expanded to feature length, but is supposed to feature some really impressive photography, utilizing the ultra-long takes he used in Children of Men.

Real Steel - The premise - fighting robots - should be stupid, Im not a fan of the director, and I find the producer to be one of the biggest jerks in Hollywood. But it's from a Richard Mattheson story, so points for that, and the trailers have gotten better each time, so I'm curious.

Prometheus - Ridley Scott's not-Alien prequel. I'm just happy to see Scott dabbling in Sci Fi again. Even when his movies are bad, they're often more interesting (and almost assuredly more visually interesting) than most Hollywood fare, so I'm very excited.

Oppy's post was all about films coming out later this year so that's what I was thinking about too. If we're expanding it to next year then there would have to be more on my list.

Just took a look at the cast list of Spielberg's War Horse, now that one's on my list too.

Okay, my bad. I saw that 2011 in the header for the Red Tails trailer, and War Horse will be out in December, and I didn't check but had already heard a lot about Woman in Black and assumed it was this year too.
