I'm going to respond to your claim that I am racist. I know you couched it in terms that allow you to back away from stating that I am a racist. Classic passive-aggressive action there by the way, Kwicko.

I don't hate any group of people based on factors that they cannot control. I don't hate groups of people for actions of a few individuals. I will hate whole groups of people for the actions of that whole group. Since that cannot possibly apply to blacks, asians, latinos, native americans or any other ethnicity, we can rule wholesale hate out.

I dislike individuals for their actions. When you see multiple repetitions of the same sort of actions by members of the same ethnic group you can start to build a pattern. At the same time you can encounter members of the same ethnic groups that do not display the maladaptive behaviors. This reminds you that even though they are the same ethnic group, they are still individuals and are capable of independent action and thought.

I live between two of the largest entitlement areas in the US, Philadephia and Baltimore. If I want a bad example of the behavior of a minority all I have to do is turn on the news or pick up a newspaper. Add in New York City and Washington being in easy driving distance. And Delaware being a well known spot to go to when you need to lie low, and you have to step off the sidewalk to get around the bad examples. I have plenty of reasons to dislike any one of many minorities.

Of course, there's the couple that owns the home next to me. They are black Jamaican immigrants. They have lived in the neighborhood for a couple of months longer than I have, about 11 years now. They are my constant reminder that you have to judge people based on individuality. Plenty of bad examples can be negated by just a couple of good ones.

So, Kwicko, fuck you. I'd wish you and your whole family would be anally sodomized with a porcupine. Except you'd probably enjoy that.

When your argument is being defeated, come up with a better argument instead of attacking the opposition. I don't think you are capable of learning that lesson however.

There's a pretty big difference between "They're all individuals" compared to "I have plenty of reasons to dislike any one of many minorities."

Since you are a self-proclaimed misanthrope, I'm willing to extend the benefit of the doubt that this post was more about not liking people in general than anything else.

In any case. Instead of sorting people in to "good folk" and "bad folk," with "good folk" being more the exception than the rule, maybe a little thought is required here in regards to "why" than "race."

I suspect that this is actually some form of protest, and it may even boil down to racial grounds, such as poor inner city black dissidence. But even that is a better explanation than "because they're black/ because this is black entitlement culture." Frankly, we do not know. Assumptions are being made. Maybe this is the new stupid youth craze, like planking, or icing.

I'm not going to quote the rest, but suffice to say, looks like you've taken the gloves and masks off.

As you pointed out, when whole groups of people (say, right-wing neo-conservatives) start behaving a certain way, and keep behaving that same way (such as pointing out ONLY crimes committed by blacks, or Muslims, or gays, or any other group they've been told to hate this week in support of their agenda of hate), I start to see the patterns develop. And as you've pointed out, it's not necessarily wrong to point out the patterns when you see them, right?

So I see a pattern here of right-wing assholes posting up their new favorite thing: "flash crimes" by "gangs of black thugs", with little to no substantiation other than relying on the old tried and true stereotypes of "everybody knows" and "that's how they all do".

In my experience, thugs come in all shapes and sizes, nationalities, creeds and so on. I don't get why certain violent gangs start to form, but I do know that gangs need some sort of familiarity in order to exist. For some, it might be that you are related, from the same religion, from the same race, but generally you need something to bind you together. That is why you get racially aligned gangs. When that happens, it seems all too easy for people to start bringing out the racist labels about minorities.

So where you have black and hispanic gangs, we have lebanese and vietnamese. Same story. Some right winged fasc will start bleating on about 'sending them all home'. I guess the question is - why do people resort to gang violence, what are the factors that cause this to happen. Race clearly ISN'T a factor, because you'll find gangs in every society. What I do know is that they tend to occur amongst lower socio economic and disenfranchised groups, such as immigrant groups.

Sometimes I think they just act out their visciousness in a more obvious way. If you are a hispanic gang member you might rob at the end of a gun. The wealthy and powerful have more subtle ways of fucking us all over.

I agree with Magon's about gangs. Back in the day you had the Bowry Boys and the Plug Uglies, now you've got the Vicelords and the Bloods etc. Its always poor folk or folk who identify with their poor neighbors. Back in the day the Irish boys were running around killing, they were the poor ones, now its other people. But the concept holds firm.
