I just moved here. starting work as a speech pathologist for 0-6 year olds on monday...in frankston. everyone keeps trying to scare me about the place. So I rang the Frankston police station and the officer who answered reassured me the areas I would be in were perfectly safe...he asked where I had come from and when I said Raymond Terrace NSW he laughed...coz it is waaay smaller than frankston and has a waaay higher crime rate which I've been trying to tell all the scaremonmgers.(Raymond Terrace in the top 10% of places in the state of NSW with the highest rates of domestic and non domestic violence and assaults, drug and alcohol offences, car theft and burglaries and malicious damage). IU think I'm gonna be allright at the new place. plus its near a really beautiful beach...mega bonus

I'm in Melbourne at the moment. I've moved here to live with my girlfriend. Not a permanent resident yet though. In novemeber I'll have to head back to England as my 12 month visa terminates then.

I've heard things about Frankston too. That's funny. I'm not even from here and I hear things about that place. Still I wouldn't let it worry you Boris. The media here is ridiculous. If you actually listened to those jokers you wouldn't ever leave the house.

ha ha yeah I agree it is a media beat up mixed with a bit of urban mythasising...I went to Frankston today and walked around all day...compared to where I've been living for five years (Raymond Terrace NSW) it was a puppy walk...could not stop laughing. I saw a grand total of 4 drug addicts and one alcohol abuser and about 3 non using ferals around Frankston and on the train as opposed to the 20+ I see whenever I walk around Raymond Terrace or Newcastle or when I catch trains and busses around those two areas...it's gonna be a sweet change :)

That's great about a new city and new job. Will you be able to finish your studies while there? I know you've been hoping to move to a new town, or at least a new house. Hopefully things will be better for you there.
