No, they're not all dead...they were ACTORS. That's a Wulf, has no meaning, and I'd expect PN to come up with something a bit better (which is not to say I'm encouraging him).

Who here expects titles from PN to reflect any actual reality? Show of hands, please...

By the way, the IRA can't be getting active again. They're not Muslim, and we all know the ONLY current terrorists are all Muslim, right?

Well, of course the ACTORS aren't all dead - but then again, the ACTORS didn't exactly secede, either. :)

William Wallace and his merry band of heathens ARE all dead, however. And it didn't really work out too well for them either, as I remember it.

William Wallace lives on... In our hearts. And in the many folktale stories we tell about him sticking it to the man. Rob Roy too.

Though darnit, a perfectly good movie had to be tainted up retroactively by Mel Gibson.

You're half right though. William Wallace died, but at that time the Scottish cause was actually triumphant. They retook Edinburough castle, drove out Edward and his goons, and put a Scottish king on the Scottish throne. They remained independent until King James, a Scotsman himself, inherited both the Scottish and English crown. Then it kinda went downhill from there.

Really wasn't until the LATER war with Bonnie Prince Charlie that got us rear-ended, though. And how.

Damned straight! Far as I'm concerned, everything Gibson did except the Lethal Weapon series (and not even the last two of THOSE) is shtick. Anyone ever notice how MUCH gore his movies have? Even Bruce Willis' Die Hard series didn't get as bloody as any Gibson movie, including the ones he directed.

I dislike Mel Gibson on so many fronts, the least of which is his acting "talent" (I use the word advisedly)...

I actually thought that was one of the neatest things I've ever seen PN post.

I love Braveheart, and I think Mel Gibson did a fine job as William Wallace, Mel Gibson may have some problematic philosophies on life and he may not be the nicest person, but I thought he did good in the movie. My neighbor from Glasgow said he did a better Scottish accent than most actors do when playing Scottish roles.

And Byte's right, it took a while after Wallace died, but .scotland did win its freedom. In the Braveheart movie Robert Bruce was portrayed as being not the best, but in other versions of the story he is a brilliant strategist, warrior, leader and king for his people. And yeah, Scotland remained free for some 300 years after until the 1600s.

Eeh gads, he was ruined when he came to America to act. His Australian films are very fine indeed, especially Gallipoli and The Year of Living Dangerously. Mad Max and Mad Max 2 are both very good genre films in which he was pretty cool.
