Yeah, RionaEire. Whole street had a party in the back alley(we back onto a big empty field).Lots of booze and grub and watched the wedding on a projector screen.
I love days like this. It's WHY we have a Monarchy.Where else in the world do you get a whole nation brought together to celebrate two people tying the knot?
Where else in the world do you get such pageantry on such a structured and lavish scale.
No matter how much dissenters may slag it off, undermine it, steep it in socio-political argument or simply just not like Her Maj, you can't argue with what you saw today.
It is occasions such as these that ALL of us SUBJECTS can come together collectively and celebrate BRITISHNESS. Not as Imperialist bigots with overhyped opinions of ourselves. But as proud folk who appreciate the history and traditions,with all their successes and failures,and shout to the rest of the world, "You may not like us, we aren't the power that we once were,but on days like this, we have the worlds attention.
Today is what the Monarchy is FOR.It is our stability, our heritage and our National Identity and I would fight to the death to keep Republicans from our door.
It is days like this that people around the globe UNDERSTAND why we keep our monarchy and today I stand a proud Brit.

The Royal Family is why Britain is independent right now, instead of being a subsidiary of Goldman Sachs like the rest of Europe. As a result, Britons will be allowed to have children.

That makes sense. Traditions are important, whether they make sense or not, they help us retain our humanity. Anything the brings people together in a positive way can't be that bad. Also, that orchestra was quite impressive.
