MSNBC doesn't care about Japanese people!

Must've been a different MSNBC than the one I was watching yesterday, which was all earthquake/tsunami coverage for the greater part of the day.
Turn it on now - it's still nothing but earthquake & tsunami coverage.

Yeah, me, too, Mike. I switched around between it, CNN and the local news, but I'll admit I spent most of my time on the two local news station because they were getting the best and most accurate stuff on Santa Cruz and Crescent City. In the evening, however, whenever I switched to MSNBC during a commercial somewhere else, it was ALL earthquake and tsunami. Rachel Maddow devoted virtually her entire show to it, and rolled it right on into The Ed Show (but I didn't see beyond that...can't stand that ultra-left blowhard).
So I don't know where they got that, but I can attest to the fact that MSNBC covered it EXTENSIVELY whenever I checked it out during the day, and coverage was about ALL there was in the evening. Yes, there was a bit about Libya (along with a remark that the Libyans are afraid the world will turn away from them because of Japan), and some about Wisconsin. I'm sure there was on other shows, too. Me, I'd be happy if they hadn't covered it so MUCH--after channel-surfing between seven channels all day, I heard and saw an awful lot of duplication.
The networks went back to "All My Children" and "Jeopardy" and stuff...just stopped reporting on it from noon until evening--I know THAT, too, because I switched among them when there were commercials on the two local channels. So why isn't anyone complaining about THEM?? Oh, wait, I forgot; MSNBC bad; FauxNews good. Right...

Funny, though, who people who claim to be independent and berate the MSM are still partisanly programmed enough to not only defend/attack networks on this basis, but more surprisingly to me, actually what them, unaware that their very analysis of what is important is being set by television programming.
No wonder you guys never talk about Africa. 'cause they don't.

Lessee, I don't claim to be "independent and berate the MSM"...sometimes I MOCK them, and I don't believe everything I see/hear. I try to keep things in perspective. We have public television, but only one or two stations and they don't do that great a job on news, so I don't watch them a lot. When it comes to things that are happening immediately, footage is footage, and the networks and CNN can afford the best footage (which others then use), so I watch them. Ergo, I was able to watch the most violent day of the Egyptian protests and the tsunami in Japan virtually as they happened. I see nothing wrong with that. I'm quite aware of most of the times they are slanting thing, etc., and take what they report with a grain of salt ALWAYS, but I see nothing wrong in watching footage of a disaster as it takes place.
Thank gawd for technology in some ways; apparently people were using cell phones to tell rescuers where they were. This is a good thing, to me.

I'm fed up with how most of the MSM has covered this event.
CNN has done a better job, imo, but even still...I'd expect more from folks whose JOB it is to cover major events.
First, I really hate the massive clutter of graphics on screen. NHK and other Japanese media clearly have lots of footage. They then sell/loan/ give - what ever the details, that footage to other networks. I'm watching FOX, and on TOP of the graphics NHK has, they put on scrollers and 'breaking news' graphics... nearly 1/3 of the damn image is covered up !! 
Running footage from 12+ hours ago is NOT " breaking news ". All are guilty of that one.
The anchors act as if their viewers are idiots. Every network does this. I tell you what, you start talking to the audience like they're adults, educated adults, and they'll catch on.

Well said, and the clutter of graphics drives me nuts too. Just in general it's bad enough (what the hell do I care what's on next when it obscures what I'm watching NOW???), but the footage from Japanese stations has FAR more stuff cluttering it up than I'm used to, bad as it is here. When you put THEIR clutter together with the STATION's clutter, it's absurd! Not to mention unpleasant to watch...
And yes, it was almost humorous, after watching the tsunami into the middle of the night, to wake up and turn on news and see "BREAKING NEWS!" consisting of exactly the images I'd seen the night before. If it bleeds...it leads...
The MSM will NEVER treat its audience like adults...too many of them AREN'T (if you take that to mean "intelligent adults")...and they've always, always reached for the "lowest common denominator". Why do you think we get so much coverage of Sheen and the other "celebraties" (I use the word advisedly) and their antics? It's what the public wants... Unfortunately, there is a portion of us out here who'd like real, adult news...and we ain't gonna get it.
