Time to derail this thread.

As you are obviously a fan of files marked X I was wondering if you'd heard anything about whether there will be another movie in 2012. I haven't heard anything myself but I haven't really looked either. I know when the last movie came out there was some (fan) talk about it and it would make sense from a plot perspective as it's the 'invasion' year.
But knowing that the last movie didn't go down well and the amount of time passed I wonder if Duchovny and Anderson would be willing to do it even if the studio was.

Any thoughts?

Cris Carter, David and Gillian are all on board but they are waiting for the o.k. from Fox but no word yet.
[you know how Fox can be - the company not the agent].

'I Want to Believe' didnt make lot of money, but it didnt cost a lot to make so that's not a negative.

THIS LAST MOVIE BETTER BE A MYTHOLOGY.

Many thanks for the info and I didn't know they were all on board (which is excellent news) but, as I said, I haven't really looked it up either.

Why? Are they in the habit of not following through or cancelling shows etc.

Money wasn't actually my point (not that I made a point). It was more that FTF was an excellent movie for fans, even at worst most folks seemed to compare it to a good double episode of the show. I thought it was truly excellent.
IWTB on the other hand didn't seem to sit well with fans that I know. It could be compared to a poor non-mythology double episode. I thought it was okay as an X-Files film on it's own but would have suited better as a double episode. For all the waiting and wondering after the series ended it should have been better. They wasted their opportunity for what could have been a big event.

Yeah, damn right it better be. Would they dare do anything else?
My only problem is that we will be deluged with invasion/apocalypse/end of the world movies next year (it's all ready started) and I fear that The X-Files will get lost in the rush. It's been so long since it was part of the currently popular media that people have moved on and it's now a fondly remembered show.
Her's hoping it can stand out from the pack.

yeah, i loved Fight the Future.
That is a great movie even if you're not an X-File fan.

Hey did you ever get the Mythology DVD set?
That's maybe the best compilation set of DVD's in existence.
As you probably know, its a 4 part set:

ABDUCTION
BLACK OIL
COLONIZATION
SUPER SOLDIERS

Each is a 4 disk set (16 disks total)
it unbelievable and you can probably get them cheap now at amazon or ebay or wherever.

No I didn't get the Mythology set but I do have every series on DVD (bought on release day) plus the two movies on Blu-Ray.
I don't usually dip into series and watch just certain episodes. If I'm going to watch it I'll watch it from the start, all the way through, with breaks between seasons. I do plan on seeing it all again before the potential movie in 2012, just don't know when yet.

At the time the show was on I had a lot of the books (episode guides etc) that surrounded the series but gave them away once I read them enough. These days I collect replica props and have Mulder's gun (not real) and ID on a plaque, his ID wallet with (crappy) badge and clip ID's for Mulder, Scully and Skinner.
I also have a large selection of photos, files, reports and other things that I found online but they aren't printed out and some are too poor in quality to be worth it.

i dont have any memorabilia, just dvds - mythos set, movies, complete series.

i did get 2 mulder and scully figures still in their packaging but i'm giving them to one of my
X-FILES TRUTH 'agents' for all the work she's doing on the show.
its an hour long podcast and she handles the website as well as contributing 1-2 segments per episode,
plus she does a ton of research for the show, so thats the least i can do.

firefly has some good podcasts too.

I have listened to a few but nothing regular. I usually catch them if there's someone being interviewed on it that I like. I heard a couple of FF (The Sognal) ones back when the movie was on it's way and I've caught several of the Scifi Guys podcasts but that's really about it except for a couple of minor other ones.

Can the X-Files podcasts be downloaded?
If they can I may give it a listen but I really dislike the ones where you have to sit through loads of crap before you get to the interesting bit and you can't jump forward because it's streamed.
If the X-Files ones can do that or they are a different approach then it may persuade me to watch...err...listen.
