Help Nathan Buy Firefly

What you should reconsider, though, is the idea that Nathan wasn't kidding about doing an Internet series. He would be crazy to give up a gig as good as Castle, but he's also doing a voice-over for the Green Lantern. Doing Firefly on the Internet would be a side venture - a guy has to do something during the hiatus, right? Why not devote his time to regaining a role his still treasures?

Unless you're a personal friend of his and can say for a fact that he said to you, "No, I didn't mean that," then any doubts you have about his actions are as superfluous as my confidence in him. FYI, I haven't met him either, nor do I have the pleasure of calling him my friend. But then I give that title to a very distinct few.

So as much as you object to me being misleading, I object to your unfounded opinion about what a perfect if very visual stranger would or would not do.

Given that, and a healthy dose of reality, I can support this venture. I supported Serenity and I still believe that without the Browncoats there wouldn't have been a movie. I will even accept that we didn't do as much as we'd like to think, but without people to buy the tickets, we still wouldn't even be talking about it in these terms.

Yeah I think we just disagree about the whole thing.

I mean it's pretty clear that these mini-campaigns are doing damage to the fandom as it is. I mean Two's post just shows that these are getting lumped together as just the next in a list of similar failures. When the time comes that we really can make a difference we'll be the browncoats who cried wolf. Maybe this is the time it will work and here I am being jaded. Do we really want to breed feelings like that?

But your way leaves no room whatsoever for hope. And if there is no hope, then Haken might just as well shut this site down.

Neither do I - but there are some of us... well, it doesn't hurt.

You don't want them to get all crotchety and jaded too, do you? Not everyone deals with realism so well. There was a significant time of bitterness when I would have been right beside you. I've gotten past that stage of my grieving, which for me is a pretty big deal.

I'm skeptical too, but I suppose people can give if they like and hope if they like, we'll see what happens, and I certainly think Channain has the right to post it, passing on info for whoever is interested, sure its bizarre, but people can choose what to do with the information if its given, if it isn't given then people can't choose to do anything with it.

I'm one of the half that dislikes the film, watched it twice, did my best with it, but still didn't really enjoy it. I think it has a few good concepts, a few good lines, but I don't really fancy it as a whole.

Proof enough for me. FOX ends Firefly with, what?, three episodes ready to air. That is exactly the same as throwing away money. Who but the top man could deliberately waste that much money? And then FOX replaces red hot Firefly with a string of soggy firecrackers. Who but Rupert Murdoch could getaway with those decisions without being fired? If Joss Whedon needs a name for a villain on one of his shows, that name should be “Rupert.” Do you really want to pay Rupert Murdoch millions for the right to use the word Firefly? He would laugh at the irony and your gullibility. It's paying the kidnapper AFTER he killed the hostage.

I remain 100% convinced that at some point in the future there will be more Firefly. It may not include all or even any of our BDH's, but there will be a Firefly comeback someday. I've said the same thing about shows going back to Star Trek, and I've seen most of my favorites return in some form. I'm holdin'!

Well yeah I'd expect at some point in the future there will be someone who decides to remake Firefly. I don't really care about a remake if there are different actors and Joss isn't involved.

Yeah, not a very well thought out campaign. But its nice to see the browncoats are so willing to step up, even if it's not particularly realistic.
