OT to thread but relevant to your post, Static:

After 3 years working as an in-class interpreter for a deaf student I realised that I wasn't cut out to become an actual teacher ... too many screwball parents to deal with.

So now I teach adults in college, and while some of them are clearly 'broken-assed', as you say, at least none of them has sicced their screwed-up parents on me yet! (One less layer of nonsense to deal with ... and if you swear in class, it isn't the end of the world!)

So ... my hat is off to you for being able to do this job.

(Yeah, I'm also prez of our local PTA at our kids' school because most of these annoying-parent-types can't be bothered actually to get involved in a useful way or anything ... they just like to harp at the teachers and give them a bad time.)
