Who do you identify with (and why)?

Zoe. I'm a "beast" at work...can lift just as much (sometimes more) than the guys. I'm reserved until you make me mad...but i'm also very compassionate...and i can kick your ass.

I have to say, people's gut-levels to these people are pretty interesting. How people see themselves, make connections.
New question: If you had to BE(ie live the exact life of) one person on Serenity, who would it be (pre or post Serenity); does this differ and why from who you most identify with?

Wash, who is possibly the closest to normal of any in the crew, and has the fewest secrets.
He has a high level of responsibility without being in charge. That's how I like to work too.
His humor and humanity balance against Mal's and Jayne's tendency to use violence as a first resort.
And I doubt he'd be part of a sometimes criminal enterprise or even pilot a small, nearly obsolete freighter if not for his willingness to compromise his own career potential to be with Zoe, and I've done the same for my wife.

Mal, no question.
I work for myself, and lost what faith I may have had in God, Gods, a supreme being.
There are other traits, but that pretty much covers the basics.

After life kicks you around and you figure out that the cause is hopeless, one loses faith.
I've been married and divorced. I've made homes and lost them. My family is either dead or distant. In this recent economic downturn my wife and I lost everything. No help from the government. But, we "keep on flyin'." It's sheer stubbornness of will and refusing to surrender in the face of utter defeat.
...and that's what I see in Mal.

Mostly Simon. I am a devoted and protective big brother, despite the fact that my lil sis can probably kick my and most other people's butt (she is a marine after all). I like to believe I'm fairly inteligent but, and this may come as a surprise, I am not very good at talking to girls lol.
The rest of my is more Mal. I grew up in a country enviornment in the south (US) much as I 'spect Mal did, and have learned to adapt quickly and work with next to nothing (maybe that bit is a Kaylee trait). I have lost my faith in governments and people in general, but not in God.

I identify with their aggression, fashion sense and nihilism.
Also, they killed Wash, for which I am grateful. And envious.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that my purpose in life is to make certain that everyone makes it home alive from the party, so sometimes I'm like Mal, and sometimes I’m like Zoe.
Like Zoe, I am loyal and generally honest, reserved, and introspective. I have a dry sense of humor. I don't suffer fools lightly, but I also pick my fights carefully. No sense in winning a battle only to lose the war.
On the other hand, like Mal, I've gotten really good at keeping people at arm's length, but I've also reached the age where I'm beginning to question why. I don't lack spirituality, but I am deeply suspicious of religion, or more specifically, the motives of those who claim to hold to religion but have somehow missed the humanity and grace it is supposed to endow.
I am comfortable and capable of doing "captainy things" in any library, but I am damn glad I am not a school administrator. That would just be answering to too many masters. I am happy to do a job, but get the hell out of my way when I am doing it. (I get quite focused on work).
I've missed out on more than a bit of fun by keeping busy and being the responsible one, hence, I have recently embraced my inner geek and have come to play here.
I think I need to pull a Zoe and find a husband who makes me laugh, provided there are any left out there.

Welcome to the party! ...although I've only been here a week or so myself. This is me only recently embracing my "inner geek." Actually, I'm more geeky at 50 than I was at 20. Go figure.
It seems we have some things in common, which doesn't mean we won't knock heads on occasion. ;) But, being in agreement on everything isn't much fun either. :)
