The TV series cancelation that affected you the most at the time.

I remember being devastated when Battlestar Galactica was cancelled in 1979. I was nine years old, and had never even known much of science fiction until I saw Star Wars the year before. Battlestar was my favorite show at the time, and the people on it were like my family. It only got better along the way to the final episode of its' one-season run. The cast interviews on the DVD set say the same thing. They all loved the show, and saw great things ahead. I should have learned a lesson about the realities of a sci-fi show's survival right then, but I continued to find sci-fi and a few other shows to like over the years, only to see them all go away sooner than they should have. Losing them all hurt to some degree, but it is what it is. I take some solace in knowing that the most "popular" shows of their days never appealed to me much. Sci-fi geekdom doth demand a high price of sacrifice and heartache.

Like many, I was not watching Firefly (or Wonderfalls, which I like too)

So for me the list would start with Veronica Mars which I followed intensely. I also was severely bummed by My So Called Life and Freaks and Geeks.

The only time I truly took action in a save the show campaing was at the end of the first season of Twin Peaks - I was frantic.

By the end of the second season, I wasn't.

See how I'm not hitting him, I think I've grown!

I've only ever seen bits and pieces of it, but I was really intrigued by what I saw. And what's kept me from going back and buying the whole series is that I keep hearing that it was just ripped away, and then they gave us two crappy "movies" to act as "closure".

I'm not intrigued enough to buy it, but I *DO* want to see it. Too many shows, not enough time, I'm afraid...

You really should check it out. Yeah, the miniseries they got to wrap it up was a bit truncated, but it really did tie up all the important loose ends. It is the Serenity to Farscape's Firefly - not what the fans wanted, but still pretty damned fun.

And the 4 years leading up to that point are just a blast.

Did you know they did a series of TV movies that wrapped up the cliffhanger and other loose ends? I think they did 4, and they're available on DVD as a boxed set.

The original Battlestar Galactica. I was only 7 years old, so I just couldn't grasp the concept of a show being cancelled.

And Surface. The build-up of characters, the GINORMOUS beasties that swallowed boats whole and could swim in magma, and the relationship between Miles and his mini-beastie was really cool.

Without a doubt, Firefly's cancellation hit me the hardest. To this day I don't watch Fox because of their shortsighted foolishness.

Second worst cancellation for me was Space: Above & Beyond. Loved that show.

Firefly / John Doe - Both shows I watched loyally, until that January, when I moved to a town that didn't get Fox. I didn't hear about the cancellations till much later, so the blows were lessened.

Two years later, with my first steady job money, I bought the Firefly DVDs.

Firefly: Didn't feel the stabbing pain of the cancelation, until I finished the DVD and saw the black void of nothingness afterward.

NOOOOOooo.... *Depression*

John Doe: Felt the stinging pain of the cancelation after I finished the series on Hulu. I probably would've been closer to show, if they hadn't jumped a major shark by killing Karen so early.

(Whoa, brainsnap. Karen was killed off John Doe around the time Firefly was squished. Hmmm... An homage perhaps? Both shows did use that Patron -"She's a witch"- guy.)

Drive - This show was canceled, like, three times (once in April and twice in July), and they only 6 episodes! (Last 2 eps were "Online Exclusives")

Day Break - Atleast there was a proper series finale with the DVD.

Better Off Ted - *smacks ABC* This show was funny as hell, but they just didn't want to advertise it.
