I'd either keep a distance & snap some pix, or do something unexpected- like pay him, but not for an autograph but a handshake. If he questioned me or looked shocked, I'd say something about touching a legend... and that I hoped to be a legend myself someday. Heh heh. Goofy is the way to go with the Shat IMO.
I took a picture of Marina Sirtis once, and had to hold the camera high to do it, and just then the crowd cleared suddenly & she thought I was trying to get her cleavage better that way.
Never been called a "Littl' bastard" before or since.
She was smiling, though.

You kind of answer your own question. This may be the last time you get the chance so it's now or never. You have to get his autograph.
And yes he may turn out to be a jerk but at least you will know for yourself and not from rumours. It may hurt as it does when meeting idols/heroes who turn out to be assholes and your thoughts are forever tarnished or destroyed.
But ask yourself this. What if you don't meet him. What if you read reports after that he was great and funny and charming etc etc. What if he never does another signing again. How will you feel then having missed your opportunity.
Does that give you an answer?

Okay, sure, it's down when I try to show someone something... whatever.
Another show that had a great first season and then went wonky was Lost In Space. But THAT was intentional as many sixties series were sillying it up some to lighten up the mood during the Vietnam War... even Wild Wild West goofed it down a bit after it's awesome first season although the magic never really disappeared.

Shatner's an ass, true - but it's long since past that anyone denies it, up to and including him, plus the years have really mellowed the guy, and never forget this one little bit...
Shatner, has never, EVER in his life been *half* the asshole Kirk was - and we LIKED Kirk, didn't we now ?
Funny thing, even wayyy back when I figured he prolly got really sick and tired of people calling him Captain Kirk - and so addressed him as "Mister Shatner" in a respectful businesslike tone, and he calls me on it, so I flat told him I felt it disrespectful to him as a person and actor, and he all but snickered at me for it.
Got snickered at WORSE much later, there's less than a dozen people on the PLANET that rate an automatic "Mister" from me...
And one of em is THAT asshole ?!
I still haven't heard the end of that.
As for Airwolf, yes, it was pretty nice, but I could never get into those 80's shows much even if I did like em, Knight Rider, A-Team, it was all prettymuch the same plot format, over and over again - and as a wee little kid I *despised* Mighty Mouse for just that reason.
Where Airwolf really shines, the genius of it, is the AUDIO - how they tell the story with the background, and very most especially, not just the howl, but the way they used sound alone to IMPLY hi-tech powers to the damn thing, and MADE YOU BELIEVE IT, when you knew damn well that was just a repainted Bell222.
Anyhow... go see the shat, might be your last chance - and if you get really lucky, you might run into John de Lancie, man that dude is a riot, and a right nice guy for all that, he really *DOES* act a lot like "Q", but way nicer.
