I do not know if this was posted a long time ago or not, but I am looking for the translation on the Serenity ship.
The first symbol is Peace/tranquility, but the lower symbol I cannot find.
It is easier to see in the Serenity RPG, but I still cannot find its meanging.

Isn´t it just one word though? two symbols but one word.. Which I always though was serenity.. I cheched some chinese translation sites and they all said the same thing.

You should be able to see it here, although it´s not completely healed yet.

I study Japanese now, not Chinese (kind of a difference); but I'll try and answer your question nonetheless.

静 by itself can mean 'calm, serene,' etc. In the compound, however, it's best translated as 'undisturbed.' So, together with 宁, you get 宁静, to mean 'undisturbed peace/tranquility,' i.e.: 'Serenity.'

That's Simplified Chinese, btw. The traditional Kanji are: 寧靜.
