Redesign Rant.....

WhyTF redesign perfection????

They effed with the Corvette, the Mustang & the Charger, but, okay though, they're just cars (now ugly ones).

But WHY redesign Enterprise??

TMP-E had some really good aspects to it. So does the so-called JJ "FuglyPrise" IMO. But a COMPLETE redesign???

Look at the redesign of Serenity from TV to movie- slight variations, sleeker lines, but not DIFFERENT ones.

Or the Viper from original BSG to the Moore one. Again, same lines, minor but cool changes (except that they frakkin' stopped USING them in the stupid new show!!!!).

Those two examples aside, I have to give a great big fat D- to the fools that graduated design school that think iconic images can be made "better!!!!"

Or the Jupiter 2!!
Oh, yeah, they already screwed that one to the wall, eh?

I'm all out of bubblegum here, my friends!

I think it's an honor for the designheads to create a new version. They aren't erasing the old, tired, worn out, creaky, bucket of bolts, garbage scow.. .. that was the enterprise, they're enjoying the challenge and the opportunity to add to the legacy.
AND, old things are usually dumped onto the waste heap - it's what we do!

I like how the OT Y-Wing wings look a bit like those of a Firefly.

now, i remember reading(before the "new" trilogy was even under pre-production) in either a "tech spec" book, or in one of the post ROTJ Novels, somewhere semi-official anyway( as we know unless george lucas wrote it himself, it's not cannon, and can change at his whimsy)

that the "sleeker" y-wing is the way they were originally designed to look,(in universe, not at ILM), the look we are more familiar with (from ANH, ESB, ROTJ) was b/c of repair techs who grew tired of removing all those panels/plates in order to repair stuff. ( pulls part off, don't need that, throws aside)

Being not as severe a fan of the Y-Wing as the X-Wing, I have to say, whatever.
