What comic/game/book do you think should be made into a movie?

I'd love to see a Legend of Zelda animé miniseries/movie (not the american cartoon from the 80s). Heck, do two of them: an adaptation of Ocarina of Time and another for Majora's Mask.

Preferably done by CLAMP (the studio behind Cardcaptor Sakura and Angelic Layer), because of their skill with drawing ten-year-olds who look like ten-year-olds, non-spiky hair, and finally because CCS and AL have some of the best-animated fight scenes I've ever seen (Mei-lin vs the Fight Card is like some pre-teen version of The Matrix )

The Fallout series of PC games (not that Xbox nonsense) had a well defined universe and well developed characters, and I think it could translate well to a movie or movie trilogy.

(Something a shade better than Mad Max.)

I started reading Dark Materials, but there was much going on so I had to put it down and never found my way back to it. I did read enough to know it definitely needs to be made into a movie.

Lately I've been reading "The Sword of Truth" by Terry Goodkind and caught myself wondering who would be best to play the hero, Richard. I go back and forth between Tom Welling and our own Nathan Fillion, until I realize that seeing a movie made of this book would probably just get me steamed. I'm not automatically expecting it to be bad, it's just that the book is so FULL of so many details that I'd spend the whole time wondering over the decisions they made about what to add and what to keep out.

There was supposed to be another Buckaroo Banzai movie, once upon a time, and a series too. Sometimes the whole business sucks rocks, doesn't it?

alas, the only comic book i've ever read is Fray. and i was a deprived child who wasn't allowed to play nintendo when i was a kid, so now i'm gaming stupid and can't play video games. i swear, i'd be on the first level for at least a year. but i have friends who are gamers and they've told me about games like final fantasy. i agree that would be a good movie. spirits within combined american and japanese storytelling techniques, and that just didn't work. but picking one and going with it would work!

but books! i do read books! i want lloyd alexander movies! his books were my harry potter. i have three fantasy projects that i would try to do if i ever got success as a writer (not including my personal projects). one is to adapt the Illyria Adventure for film.

if somebody else ever does it, i'm going to be so unbelievably distraught

Hmm, yeah, a LoZ series would be good, as long as it was a Japanese studio that did it, not just an American one who mimics the Japanese style (God Almighty, those are K-RAP!).

I haven't been into many games and comics were awhile ago ( thought x-men were great even if they weren't exactly like the comics) but there are alot of books I would love to see made into films and most of them would be by Anne McCaffrey. She is by far my favorite author, any of the Pern books would be great, my favorite would be Moreta. Also some of her other series like The Tower and Hive series,Petaybee series,Freedom's Landing, Brain and Brawn, Pegasus.
Non-McCaffery books would be Dust by Charles Pellegrino, Witch World by Andre Norton, any Lazarus novel by Heinlein.
The ability to do so much more special effects could mean any SF novel could be done successfully. I loved Children of Dune and thought it was excellant.

I just posted something similar on another thread called "Jewel in Cyberdrome", but then I saw this thread. There is an illustrated story being created by a fellow browncoat named JavidRho that would make an excellent movie (or TV series or cable miniseries, etc.) It is the first book in a series called Cyberdrome and can be seen/read at www.cyberdrome.org (note that the site is being rebuilt and will be back up on monday the 5th according to the author). The story is illustrated so reading it is kind of like watching a movie.

It has a large cast of characters (like our beloved Firefly) and deals with a number of personal and family issues (also like firefly). The setting, however, is nothing like Firefly so don't do there if you don't like topics like virtual reality, artificial life forms, and other high tech things.

I don't want a movie made from Watchmen by Alan Moore. I just don't think Hollywood would ever find a way to do it justice.

I'd third (or are we on fourth) the Midnight Nation movie. Incredible story, incredible world, incredible ending. As good as any moving novel or
gripping TV show I've ever had.

I read a blurb on aintitcool (hell that that site is, it's occasionally good for news) that a director was interested in it. Not sure if anything ever became of it though.

Rising Stars, for those who've mentioned it along with Nation, actually had a script written for it's first installment on big screen. That script and the movie plans was the source of so much controversy with Joe Straczynski that he pulled his own comics scripts, which is why the comic is still unfinished. I hear tell the last issues will now be out this fall sometime.

EDIT - Also, has anyone seen that Neverwhere series? Is it any good? I'd probably try and pick it up if it were worth it.

I've seen Neverwhere.. it's.. well, not bad. The book's better, as is usually the case, and it suffers a bit from low-budget. I enjoyed it, but if you've already read the book other than the enjoyment of seeing it come alive (and it's fairly close to the book), it may not be worth it on its own.
