The British surge in Afghanistan went well. One guy made it back alive.

Lordy, I wish there were a "bottom" link like there is "top". I get AWFULLY sick to my stomach of having to scroll past PN's ugliness...and I can't help seeing some of it as I roll past. What a sad sicko; imagining what it must be like in his brain gives me the shivers. Do you think he actually BELIEVES all his shit??

I'd say lots of people could believe SOME of the stuff PN does, but NOBODY could believe ALL of that tripe. Now how, no way. It's an act, and he only does it to get paid, or to drop a dime on anyone who trusts him.

Is this true? Link/stats? This is pretty horrid.

Mike,

You still don't have it. It's not about cash. I know what it is now, because John tipped me off, but I'm not about to tell. Still yeah, I agree, he doesn't believe it, and yes, it's about traffic, I can say that because I said it before he told me. Saying why would be a breach of trust, but actually, I feel more comfortable with all of this know why. It does disturb me tho... if you think that PN posts things that are traffic related, then that is an indication of where the traffic aleady is, and that is disturbing.

Niki,

Yes, there is, that's why your keyboard has a "home" and an "end" key.

http://www.britishbattles.com/first-afghan-war/kabul-gandamak.htm

The final stand took place at Gandamak on the morning of 13th January 1842 in the snow. 20 officers and 45 European soldiers, mostly of the 44th Foot, found themselves surrounded on a hillock. The Afghans attempted to persuade the soldiers that they intended them no harm. Then the sniping began followed a series of rushes. Captain Souter wrapped the colours of the regiment around his body and was dragged into captivity with two or three soldiers. The remainder were shot or cut down. Only 6 mounted officers escaped. Of these 5 were murdered along the road.

On the afternoon of 13th January 1842 the British troops in Jellalabad, watching for their comrades of the Kabul garrison, saw a single figure ride up to the town walls. It was Dr Brydon, the sole survivor of the column.

I didn't mean recently, I was talking about the British expedition in the 1840's I think.

1839 - 1842. 4500 casualties (not including civilians), William Brydon made it back alone.

Awww crap, did I miss the end of civilization as we know it again? See what happens when you don't read the Real World section for a week or two? And this looked like it could have been a good one too...

Well shit, now I have to wait 'till 2012 to catch the next apocalypse...

Once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary.
Over many a strange and spurious pronsite of 'hot XXX galore'.
While I clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning.
And my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour.
"Tis not possible!", I muttered, "give me back my free hardcore!"
Quoth the server,

Well, Reaverman, that's the great thing about an apocalypse: if you miss today's, there'll always be another one coming just around the bend!

DT, yeah, I was mostly joking...snarking if you will. If I went to "end", I'd miss everything in between, and there are usually actual posts above and below the crap he puts up.

However, I DO wish there was that "ignore" feature we talked about that another Firefly board has. Then I would be able to skip them entirely, rather than just wearing out my scroll finger...

I really don't care what they're about, I just wish his posts were shorter and had fewer ridiculous pictures/videos on them. And that he cluttered the list with fewer purile threads.

Hee, hee, hee...I looked up "stupid". Per Mirriam Webster, the first definition: "lacking in or exhibiting a lack of power to absorb ideas or impressions." Right on.

Actually, they could just put "Pirate News" as the definition of many things, like stupid, assinine ("marked by inexcusable failure to exercise intelligence or sound judgment"), fatuous ("complacently or inanely foolish"), invalid ("logically inconsequent")...oh, well, I won't continue. Just having fun and venting some frustration here. Move on, nothing to see here...
