Rating your like of the new Abram's Trek movie...

I wasn't all that impressed when I saw it in the theater back in May. Now that I have the DVD and have seen it twice at home, my opinion has changed. It's much better than I originally felt. There are a couple of scenes which I think are truly masterful, and the whole movie itself is really quite entertaining, humorous, and thought-provoking. I rate it an 8.5 of 10.

To me, it's like Spiderman 3; I left the theatre feeling it was okay, but not all that.
Subsequent viewings made it work so much better for me. Same with Trek.
It's the forgiveness factor. Enough was good that we let other stuff slide.
Compare to, say, Aliens, where you came out of the theatre with your jaw hanging down. Astounding from jump.
