It wasn't perfect by any means, and yet there are very few things I would change. Actually, most of what I would change would probably have to do more with some of the dialogue and its delivery than anything really in the story itself. I never really felt that they had strayed from Wonderland, and all the little nods to the books made me giggle throughout. It wasn't a blow-by-blow interpretation, but then it wasn't supposed to be, and it modernized quite well. I think it's a testament to the original work that it can become something like this and still have the same sort of feel.
...I've actually considered doing a dissertation on Alice in Wonderland, since it was one of my favorite books as a child, and likely contributed to my passion for literature. Can you tell I'm a bit of an Alice geek? I've gone so far in-depth with this whole world that I'm positively giddy to see all the new attention it's been getting.

I just found the two stories ( Alice and Tin Man ) to be amazingly similar in their t.v. versions. Neither were very much a 're-telling' of the originals, but a continuation of sorts.

I'm sorry to say I missed Tin Man. I'll need to look for it now. Oz is as much a part of my consciousness as Wonderland is, and I'd like to see it get this sort of telling.
Continuation is a good word for it.

I saw both Tim Man and Alice and thought both used a lot of imagination to get the most out of a small budget. Alice was very faithful to the characters, but with some interesting new interpretations.

I've been watching this vid over and over and over and over the last couple days, I thought maybe I'd share (Yes, it's all full of scenes from the movie, so spoilers for certain things ahoy) I am a Hopeless Fangirl of Squee, oh yes I am.

I agree, it was pretty good up until the end, I felt like there was some stuff missing at the end.

The bit with the skeletons, I could easily tell from the very first images of them exactly what that was, how could noone in the castle or watever tell. And if that wasn't bad enough, the people flying up and dropping bombs couldn't tell? really?
Then the part where the guy in the red suit (king of hearts?) decided to stay and die, I didn't quite get that. He decides to be rebellious right there? where it leads to certain death? He'd been completely (mostly) loyal throughout the whole thing and then right there he decides to say no, seems like there was some stuff that could have been explained a bit more there.
Though for the most part it was what I expected from a syfy miniseries, I generally don't expect anything outstanding from them. (did they do lost room? if that's the case that one is the exception, it was truly awesome)

Sci-Fi is repeating the complete Tin Man miniseries tomorrow, Sunday December 13, beginning at 11AM EST, followed by a repeat of Alice from 5-9PM.
