Given that Wonderland is a magical place, perhaps the queen just assumed all those "people" outside the casino were real. And Mr Heart, I think he had finally had just enough. Cashing in his chips, as it were.

That was exactly what confused me the most! I think the whole ending 'battle' could have been fleshed out considerably. As to the very very end, though, I loved that. I'm such a sucker for romance, and I became a total sucker for Hatter as things went on. <3

Wish I could watch Tin Man and Alice tomorrow. I'll be working most of that time. Stupid work.

I watched Part 2 tonight, and while I enjoyed it I don't think I'd be interested in watching it again. There was quite a bit about it that was poorly done, all aspects from the writing, acting, the CGI and sets, and yet the best parts were the simplest.

Those were the character interactions during the more emotional moments, Alice's reaction when she finds out Jack is the Queen's son, Alice seeing her father and realizing he doesn't remember her, the White Knight recounting the story of when he was young and frightened, Alice and Hatter's farewell as well as their reunion.

I was most impressed with Caterina's performance, and other than a Season One "Castle" which I can't recall in detail, this is the only thing I've seen her in. Andrew Lee Potts was good too, much better than he was in Primeval. Matt Frewer was his usual loopy self, a bit predictable but entertaining.

The interactions alone, I would watch it again for. Several times, probably. The uber-geeky deconstruction of details between this Wonderland and Carroll's Wonderland... yeah, that's just what I do. Sci-Fi is repeating the complete Tin Man miniseries tomorrow, Sunday December 13, beginning at 11AM EST, followed by a repeat of Alice from 5-9PM.

Just glanced at Tin Man, at the part where DG and her sister found the witch, in her prison....

At first, the witch appear to them as a little girl, with straight dark hair, in a blue dress.... curious. Very much like Alice looks...

Well, I just bought the movie on itunes. I know this discussion was ages ago and I don't know if anyone's interested, but the released version seems to have a few cut scenes in it, one in particular that deals with the King and Queen of Hearts, with her showing a great deal of jealousy towards the Duchess. It makes his comment at the end about there never being anyone else make a bit more sense.

I'm seeing things this time through that I didn't notice before ...including a few things that were slipped in there purely to pay homage to the original work, and don't make the most sense in the context of the story itself, but make me grin. It remains highly enjoyable to me, worth the purchase

As much as I'm tempted to check out the Depp version on the big screen, I think I'll wait for the video. Heard less than stellar things about it thus far.

I have little interest in Tim Burton's version at this point. I do like Johnny Depp and was kind of excited when I heard about it, but it looks less interesting than I thought it would, and far less interesting than Alice.
To be honest, from the look of it, I think Burton's film should be called, "Mad Hearts, a love letter to Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp" since the character of Alice gets a fraction of the (preview) screentime that the Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts seem to have. I know those two starring in Burton films are nothing new, but it gets a little old, especially when it distracts me that much from the story. Before I even see the story.

There is also an expanded scene in the Tea Shop where one man exchanges 'Desire' for 'Serenity' after some bartering. Might not have been a nod to our ship, but I still got a smile out of it.

I got both Tin Man (in Jan) and Alice (July 6) from Amazon and have watched Alice four times already. Loved Caterina Scorsone's performance a lot. Favorite line, when Jack and Hatter are fighting Alice jumps between them saying "I'm the one with the black belt" and they stop fighting.

Anyway, I thought it was fun to watch. Even though three hours long it seemed to end to soon.
