Made by the folks who brought us Tin Man, the Wizard of Oz remake.
I'm kinda diggin' the 60's era mod scene at the casino.
And 'Alice' isn't too bad herself.

I just came on during the commercial to post a thread about it, and here I find one ready-made! Woo!
I think it's completely delightful. It seems very true to the original craziness of the story, all modernized and grown up. I think all the new takes on all the characters and creatures are just great. I adore Hatter, he's my favorite. I'll be back when I finish watching the conclusion.

No one else had anything to say, huh? Man, I hate replying to myself.
There were a few times I felt like I'd missed something. Maybe I did, I know I missed a couple things in part one because I was watching a couple things at once. I was more into it for part two, though. But there seemed to be some jumps across the story river and I didn't see much in the way of bridges. I really liked what they did with it, I liked the characters a lot, like I said. I think this could have easily been a three-parter, fleshed some of that stuff out.
I kind of hope they release this on DVD. I'd like to watch it a few more times. [/sig]

I've not read the original 'Alice' and only recall the basic outline of the story, so any comparisons I have are pretty weak.
I'm guessing each character represented 'something' in the original, and I enjoyed their updated counterparts. Save the for White Knight. He sorta bugged me, and I'm not sure why. What really annoyed me though, was his bit at the end. That REALLY was poorly done. So bad, it was hard to watch. I mean... c'mon... really? There's make believe, and then there's flat out nonsense. Sorry, it didn't work for me.
Also, I couldn't help but notices the common themes in both Alice and Tin Man. Seems they could have come up w/ something a bit more original this time around.

I've only watched Part One so far, not sure when I'll get around to the conclusion. Not that impressed, although the second hour was a bit better than the first, and I do like Caterina's performance.

I saw promos and figured it was going to be of a quality similar to their attempt to redo Wizard of Oz with "Tin Man".
Since I thought Tin Man was a time waste I figured Alice would be no different. I have no plans for it.

Virtual sets were excellent. Flamingo ultralights look like fun. Max Headroom is lookin old.
Happy ending, unlike the Wizard of Oz, which was just a dream?
Makes me want to read the original, which was about magic mushrooms. MKULTRA mind control was the theme of the new tale.
Final brainwash said Prince Charles or Harry will make a fine king of England, no matter what kind of witch Liz is (keeps subversive producers out of the Tower of London). Rather than a Puritan Oliver Cromwell ending: off with the bitch's head (but did want to cut her finger off). So I was disappointed by that.

I thought the White Knight came closest to matching his Lewis Carroll counterpart from 'Through the Looking Glass.' You should really give the books a try. They're both very quick reads, and can shed some light on updates and interpretations. I've read them through several times when I need to kill a half hour or so. If you like to read in the bath, you can easily finish 'Adventures Underground' and 'Through the Looking Glass' before the water gets cold.
Most of the characters were revamped from Lewis Carroll's work. The original Alice's father never appeared in either story, though. Nor her mother, actually. The only relative of Alice I remember getting a glimpse of was her older sister. Anyhow, I could probably give a complete breakdown of what bits of the book were transmogrified for this trip to Wonderland, as well as what was left out and what was completely new, or so altered as to be completely new, but only if anyone were actually interested in that level of analyzing.
I do have to say at least one thing, though, since you mentioned the word 'nonsense.' The whole story was based on nonsense. That was a primary goal of the storyteller. You really can't look at anything out of Wonderland and expect it all to be sensical
