How far can people be pushed?

ETA: What I mean by this thread:

It is my belief that the U.K. has become a testing ground for the implementation of policies for complete government control of lives in an industrialized nation.

All the way.

That's what movies, sports, video games and internet forums are for, as a pressure release valve. No energy left for revolt.

Only 25% of US kids know who George Washington was...

Britain's a different culture. Good people, love their sense of humour (and their sense of spelling, obviously), but a BIG dissimilarity on how government is viewed.

I think they're going down a dangerous road with their police and surveillance, but they think it keeps them safe, so they want it. *shrug* Not much to be done.

So, I focus my attention closer to home.

"So, I focus my attention closer to home."

GOOD.

Cus while our nation may have been formed by people from the UK, we ARE NOT THEM.

Citizens vs. Subjects.

So while they allow for the government to confiscate their guns, and monitor all of their public activities..

That dog don't run here in the U.S.

Wulf

Congrats on a new issue thread. Not to nitpick, but I'm not quite sure what this thread is about. I followed the link, but I'm still baffled. People should walk in the door and be baffled, just fix up the first post to give us a better gist.

Then I'll post a response

Hello,

If the people of Britain are content with their government, then I am happy for them.

Actually, invasion of privacy etc. is not so bad in Britain. I think they have the more limited govt. of the two. I can't explain their tax system though, I have no idea where the money goes. It seems they have private education an medicine which is totally adequate and not so many roads, etc. Trains are now privatized IIRC. I suspect you could shut down downing street without an appreciable change.

Oh right. The Dole.

;)

Lovely country. We should all go there and sponge

My understanding is that most of the surveillance in the UK is private.

And we are going that way here too. Hate it. Don't need it.

This is being directly caused by hatred of the police — encouraged by the campaign to defund and abolish. It is truly shocking.
