It's not because they don't know what gold is worth, it's because they think it's a scam. Would YOU trust someone trying to sell you "gold coins" for $50 on the street, or would you think they were fakes?

Yeah, I'm sure those folks know gold is $1100 an ounce today, and $300 an ounce 4 years ago, and will be $5000 an ounce once the "dollar" is KIA.

I'm also sure they know the "Federal" Reserve is a private bank, and that none of the income tax is used to run govt.

This is the same town that didn't know what YEAR 9/11 happened.
