John, LOL, your posts have such similar titles, I almost always know it you. Think OUTSIDE the box for your next one- surprise us/me.

I have to confess that I recognize them so easily I haven't read any in a while. This is purely self-motivated, not an intentional slight to John:

I like the conversations. John's posts quickly bury active threads. While this is a blessing when it kills flame wars on moronic topics, it's also disruptive to the conversations that are ongoing, which must be preferentially selected to keep them on top.

I recommended a better design for Pirate News posts in an ealier thread:

1. Make a first post which is initially just filler, and then you can edit with each subsequent news item.

2. Post a new news item as a reply to this thread.

3. Copy your new post, and edit the text and subject of the first entry as a clone of this thread.

This essentially reinvents the blog, with comments.

Not saying that John shouldn't also post conversational threads, should he want to, but just for the news items that he posts all the time.

The problem with his current strategy is that no one reads them, because by responding to these would be self sabotage for any other FFFer who has an active thread that interests him, as PN is c. 50% of threads, and would rapidly become all threads if we didn't ignore them.

Simple evolution. And yyes, outside the box

the box is over there
