Photojournalist Tim Heatherington and CNN's Anderson Cooper are reporting from Afghanistan. I saw the first video on the internet, and respected the impressions Heatherington gave. Gonna keep up with this; would be wonderful to see someone show Afghanistan from a personal point of view.
First thing I noticed is that there are a LOT more developed farming areas in the photo he showed. Neat.
Here it is; I'll post more as it comes along, would like to help others understand the place, and from the first one, this looks promising. Check it out; it's short.

He talks about "Afghanistan like being on another planet". It's a good beginning.

I can't figure out how (if possible) I can post it right here, rather than as a link. I guess that's only possible with videos from home, UTube, etc.? Sorry...if I knew how, I would, but I tried figuring it out, and nothing worked. DO check it out, tho', when you get a chance. Will be interested in people's opinions, if this continues as it looks like it will and presents a first-hand look and impression of what it's like.

Did you mean the photo gallery on the page of in that first one? It was all military stuff, to me could have been shot anywhere in the world, virtually. Sorry, didn't do anything for me.
(The bear, on the other hand, was adorable)

Definitely some good thoughts here.
What I noticed about the fields, is it seemed like there were the foundations of buildings, but no buildings. Do you know what that might be about?
Also, the fields in that overhead shot all looked fallow to me.

Some of the best landscape shots I've seen were in this thread over on militaryphotos.net

granted, the photographer is military/OGA, so there's a lot of helos and whatnot, but the images of the ground, buildings, ruins etc. are quite good.

Guess I'm just a good man.
Well, I'm alright.
