Ok that's like saying I watched the Eragon movie so the book must suck... the movies are about 1/10 of the book and Oh just read one of the books:)

See, what I dislike about everyone making a big deal of old 'classics' is that I don't think they consiter how rare books/writing were in those days- so of course back in those times they'd be hailed as 'great' simply because of the limited selection. Honestly, even though there a bunch that do deserve the title of 'classic', how many would survive the editing process of today (even if the language was all modernized)?
And yeah, same here on the Harry Potter thing. Entertaining (and the third movie happens to be my fav, because of the hippogryph ^.^), but totally wrong. The one thing that bugged me the most, I think, is that there is never any definition of a 'good spell-caster' and a 'bad' one- seems pretty hard to mess up saying a few words and waving your arm about....
Never seen Eragon, don't plan to (I honestly don't trust it to be anything near the original book, and I didn't even like it that much, so..)

No time travel... there's teh time turner, but it's not used the way you see in the movie.

okay, too many posts to really catch up ><;; but I agree with MsA on the movies are generally 1/10 of the book thing, so you can't just say "wow, that sucked, the book must be horrible." sorry, no.
