Funny thing is, I don't recall her telling anyone how to live. It's just the assumption heaped upon her by lose on the left that any one with a conservative or religious background will automatically force their value system on everyone else. It just ain't so.
But let's face it. We all screw up from time to time. To err is human, right? I can say all sorts of things about what my beliefs are and try to instill those beliefs into my kids. But in the end it's going to be the kids that make their own decisions. I'm not saying Bristol was evil for what she did. She made a decision to go against what she was probably taught. I know I did. My parents tried to tell me to wait until I was married, but I was a horny teenager with absolutely no self-control. When the opportunity presented itself . . .
So let's not jump all over Palin and call her a hypocrite and that she deserves the scorn of the left because she's not and she really doesn't deserve it. And to think it's okay to bring her kids into it is just hideous.

In the right context (if Bristol was the one at the game), I'd say it was funny. But then, I invariably find slamming hypocrisy humourous.
First of all, why is it okay if it is the 18 year old? The law says its okay for her to have consensual sex and you decide that means its okay to objectify her and disrespect her? I might be required to obey the law, but I don’t allow it to decide my morals or what I think is right or wrong. I don’t think an 18 year old kid is anymore deserving of being treated like trash then a 14 year old. So the question I have for you is, if it weren’t for the law scaring you off, why would you have any problem objectifying a 14 year old kid? What really is the difference in your mind, sans the law?
Second, what does hypocrisy have to do about your decision to find anything humorous about this?

Nothing is more unpredictable than the mob, nothing more obscure than public opinion, nothing more deceptive than the whole political system.

Palin reduced funding for Covenant House Alaska by more than 20 percent, cutting funds from $5 million to $3.9 million. Covenant House is a mix of programs and shelters for troubled youths, including Passage House, which is a transitional home for teenage mothers.

So Kwicko there are a lot of people in this thread who deserve a "good job" from YOU, if we are to believe anything you have to say.
Well, obviously ChrisIsAll, SignyM (aka JKiddo), Rue, Gino, Citizen, and a host of others, and of course David Letterman himself deserve a "Good Job" from me. Did you have someone else in mind?
Should I say "Good Job!" to Sarah & Todd Palin for putting their 14-year-old daughter front & center so she could take the brunt of a tasteless joke aimed at someone else? Should I say "Good Job!" to them for saying they want to keep their kids off-limits, all while putting them out there at every opportunity - and then getting upset when anyone notices?
Should I say "Good Job!" to John McCain for making extremely tasteless jokes about Chelsea Clinton, or for telling ACTUAL rape jokes at Republican fundraisers? Should I say "Good Job!" to Sarah Palin for not bothering to bring it up when she chose to be his running mate? Should I say "Good Job!" to both of them for not having anything to say about their supporters calling Hillary a "bitch" (isn't that objectifying a woman, Finn? Or is it different when the woman's a Democrat?) or Obama a "terrorist" and shouting "Kill him!" at their little happy Nazi rallies?
How is it different, in your eyes, to objectify someone like Hillary or Obama, rather than doing it to an 18-year-old girl? And if McCain's rape joke wasn't bad enough for ya, would it have been worse if he'd have made it about a 12-year-old girl instead of a woman? If so, WHY? Why do you seem to think it's okay to joke about raping women, but not girls? You DO think it's okay, right? I mean, you supported ol' John, didn't you?
How are we ever to believe anything you say if you support rape jokes by Republicans, but are immensely offended by "rape jokes" told by - or in this case, NOT told by - comedians? Bit of a double standard there, isn't it?

Nor did she denounce those shouting such things. Nor did she ever apologize for the actions of her thuggish supporters, or try to distance herself from them and their radical rightist viewpoints.

If I remember right, the Secret Service found no evidence that this incident (the name calling at a McCain/Palin rally that got all the attention) even occured. So your point is moot.

Careful there. That sounds like "the Secret Service found no evidence, so it didn't happen."
I myself am kind of torn in regards to whether government intelligence can't find their hands in front of their noses, and that's why they require all the bullshit privacy invading, or if they're just PRETENDING they can't for some agenda or another.

I can clearly hear "Terrorist!" in this video where Palin attempts to paint Obama as a troop-hater.
