Is Wrath of Khan the perfect Star Trek film? No! Is there a better movie in the franchise? No! Despite some of the story issues and budget restrictions, it's got the best overall balance of a action and story. It also easily has the best villian in any Star Trek movie. Yeah the Borg are okay, but nobody is badder than KAAAAAAAHHHHHHNNNNN!

I liked parts of 3 due to several things.
Christopher Lloyd as a Klingon... Briliant
Sulu kicking that security guard's behind and then saying, "Don't call me shorty."
The image of the crew standing on that hill, watching the Enterprise burn up in the atmosphere.
The rest of the movie was okay...

Briglad...I'm in agreement on Trek 3. I've developed a new appreciation of Search For Spock over the years. It's dark, powerfully emotional, and mystical. In addition to the scenes you mentioned above, I also like the scene with Kirk and Star Fleet Commander. There's a classic exchange of opposing views, but both maintain their professionalism and friendship. Re-watching Wrath of Khan however, reveals many weaknesses in story & character, and I find my fondness for the movie has faded much over the years.
P.S. Chris...did you know that Gregg Henry played Gallatin in Insurrection? I just discovered that yesterday. How could I not know that?

Until the WoK, I'd never seen, knew of the episode 'Space Seed', which was the back story to the movie.
The ep was unlike any other Star Trek I'd ever seen. It was very well made, had some very heavy, no foolin' around drama to it, and was w/ out the corny antics of green women, midgets or slutty fembots ( not that there's anything wrong w/ that )
This was some serious stuff. No wonder they chose that story to come back to and make a movie. Nothing short of a masterpiece, imo.

Insurrection is my favourite NG movie, BTW.
