I only swear in Chinese, unless I think the situation deserves English.

Reminds me of when I read "The Grapes of Wrath". I started picking up on the dialect, so I had to speak very slowley when I presented my project so I wouldn't use it. I wanted to say "Roseasharn" instead of "Rose of Sharon". Rather annoying. But fun.

I use firefly-speak all the time. I swore I wouldn't but it just creeps in...

Mostly "shiny" and "not so much," but other lines pop up all the time. I find myself telling my son not to be all "bendy" if he's pushing back on doing chores (OK, once I did threaten to bring out the chain of command, but since he's addicted to the show too, he knew what I meant and just laughed and did the dishes without further complaint -- no need to call the authorities here ).

i tend to use gorram quit a bit shiny is also a shiny word to use,wei,go-se,wu-don, i am still learning.theres nothing wrong with it.fireflyisms means you happy.and aare obsessed. which is a good thing.

actually yes, go figure, i picked up cantonese, a form of the chinese tounge, as a 4th language, next 2 spanish, japanese, and english. haha, wo guize

I always spoke somewhat strangified when compared to most other people, I blame my rural locale for that, well that and my grandma. She always used odd turns of phrase and Firefly uses the same ones, so it's like listening to my grandma talking from time to time.

Although I do use the really odd ones more since watching Firefly, not sure why that is. Either just because they stuck or maybe because they remind me of her and brought that way of speaking back up to the top of my brainpan some. Who knows, but it's all fine.

The Chinese I definately use on a daily basis, same with shiny, the gorrams...not so much. If I let fly in a situation where gorram would be used it's usually the Read Deal because I'm somewhat of a vulgarian.

And you really don't want to hear me talking on a Monday morning after watching Deadwood...

Has FF changed the way I talk? I'm learning CHINESE for pete's sake!

Other than that, I say "not so much" more than anything else, usually without noticing. I don't use shiny as much as I'd like to. I do tend to use lines, but people sometimes just stare blankly and I realized suddenly that I just quoted FF. Joss and the whole writing gang are just so witty, it'd be hard not to lift quotes.

I've always kind of had an odd way of talking, and after dating a girl from Atlanta, I found Southernisms popping into my speech, but yeah..."creepifying" is my favourite.

Yeah, I find myself saying, "kinda", "and such", "-some" and stuff. No particular phrases - barring Shiny - are in heavy rotation though.

Not so much..

I am 86% Jayne in the "Firefly personality test" so it was appropriate that I got to use one of Jaynes lines a few months back. I was sitting in the airport, the plane having been delayed like 6 hrs. There was this young guy sitting across from me and he was STARING at me. I tried staring back at him but it started getting uncomfortable after a few minutes.. Then THE line popped into my head. "Shake your head kid! Your eyes is stuck!"

It worked a treat.
