Oh, I would most certainly say so. I say things all manner of differently now. I sound much less educated than I actually am. And the funny thing is, it don't really bother me much. I love this show. It has affected the way I look at the daily grind of life.

A Captains goal was simple, find a crew, find a job, keep flying.

It may have affected my speech a might.

I use the following pretty regularly:

"That seem right to you?"

"Gorram"

"Shiny"

"Ruttin'"

"Put that in Captain Dummy Speak"

"Were there monkey? Some terrifying space monkeys?"

"I'd take that as a kindness"

I use others more sporadically when appropriate.

"May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one."

I recently sent out invitations to a party entitled
"The Shiny Summer Shindig" without thinking about it. I'm giving stars to anyone who shows up and gets the reference.

I've been using Chinese curses a lot, even to my teachers at school, wich is fun 'cause they most of the time don't have a clue of what I'm saying.
But other than that I don't think it has affected me very much.

Just yesterday, I was talking to my sister on the phone and she said something, I can't remember what, but she tripped over her words and started laughing at herself. I had to respond, "Well, it had a kind of poetry to it."

I've picked up on gorramit, I'm still working on shiny, but I can't manage to say ain't. Don't know why, just can't do it.

Yes, it has, in little ways. I find myself saying things like, "it would not go amiss" and what not. A very influential show.
