I've noticed since watching firefly that firefly-isms keep popping into my head.
Am I the only one afflicted in this manner?

N.B- Now, the title didn't come out right, did it?

I have noticed a certain cadence to my speakin' of late.

Mal: "We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. You know why? Because we are so... very... pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die."

For the most part No, however I do use Shiny on a semi-regular basis.

Being a Hoosier, and an Evansville native I can say that Ron Glass speaks a very refined english, which I don't hear much outside my British Family in this area(Evansville is on the Ohio River 5 minutes across from Henderson, Kentucky so people in this area can tend to sound very southern.)
It would be funny to have heard him with his regular "Evansville twang" as my grandma calls it, that is if he ever had one to begin with.

Whenever I can slip in a Firefly-ism, I do. Among my favourites are:

Does that seem right to you?
Gorramit
Shiny
I also adapted "wife-that-was" to refer to the X.

I have been using "Shiny" a lot lately and use one or two of the chinese curses at work when i'm upset and can't curse normally.

I find i use Spike-isms more than Firefly. My boss mentioned something and waited for the rest of us to react. no one did so he repeated himself, like maybe we didn't hear. i looked up from my work and said "I'm sorry. i'm paralyzed from not caring very much" and went back to work. Stuff like that. Joss has definately influenced my language.

Last time I deliberately used a Fireflyish construction--I've forgotten exactly what I said, but I think it involved "ain't"--my grammar was soundly corrected by my dyslexic 11-year old I've sort of given up since then, though I do slip "shiny" in from time to time

Has it affected me? Gorramit! 'Course it has!

Yeah, I use pretty much all of it, Shiny, Gorram, Ruttin', a lot of the Chinese, "The situation is 'fluid'," "This is not my best day ever," "Noah's Ark is a problem," just about anything else thats appropriate for the situation. Hell, I've even been known to sing the theme when somebody is really boring me, but in that really twangy, mocking tone that Nathan uses in the Serenity commentary.

Then again I use a lot of British slang and terminology from the Dark Tower series.

Well now, Dracos, if you've read Dark Tower, how 'bout contributing to my 'Buffy vs The Walkin' Dude' thread: http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=9&t=5378
