Fellow Browncoats, as of about 11:23 this morning, I am officially smarter than Jayne.

I have graduated the University of Ottawa's Bachelor of Arts English Honours program. This here diploma's gorram shiny, ain't it?

Since the temperature (+ humidex) outside is >32 degrees (Celsius, which converts to ruttin' hotter than hades), and I just spent four hours crammed into a 200-capacity room with 400 other graduates while wearing robes that could be used for thermal blankets, I'm just gonna sit here quietly for a while. But y'all can have some virtual-drinks on me.

Congratulations on earning something worthwhile to represent the hardword and dedication you've put forth.

I just have a small question though:

how does having a degree make one smarter than one who doesn't? and I am not trying to rain on a parade, I am just asking a question about something being implied here.

It doesn't really. I was just trying for an on-topic reference at the expense of everyone's favourite box-dropping man-ape gone wrong thing (who, coincidentally, is sitting in the screen grab for this page, looking mightily confused).

School is about indoctrinating people into their society and passing on the delusions and lies that that society is based on. Education is what I do on my own time.

You'll note that I said "officially," just as, say, Simon is officially smarter than Jayne. Still doesn't mean he knows when to duck.
