obviously i'm a browncoat and want a second serenity movie, but i'm also a big fan of the riddick movies as well. so unless things went completely tits up for either one, i'd have to say both.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think I recall Vin Diesel saying that there is already some early work on another Riddick movie going on when he was on Friday night with Jonathan Ross recently. Though to answer the question, I would definitly prefer another Serenity.

I think that's what this poll is showing us; Fans want Serenity, while Universal wants Riddick. I wish they'd pay attention to the results of this poll. You can only vote once, and we're trouncing Riddick!

Why is it either or ? Isn't the 'verse big enough for both ?

Clearly, Vin Diesel got a boost w/ the latest box office showing, so any talk of Riddick makes more sense.

But with the success of Chuck, Castle and of course, Chronicles of Sarah Conner....who knows ?

A couple weeks. Whedonesque posted it, and most of those Serenity votes came when that happened. The more folks become aware of it, the more votes there will be, I suppose.

Personally, my opinion of Universal is that they blame the Fans for Serenity's poor box office, and they feel "Burned". They are afraid to make a S2 because the Sereniverse makes money SLOWLY, and mainly through DVD sales. Most Studios are about the quick profit. You would think that, in hard economic times, they would look for reliable income, steady income. Such, evidently, is not the case.

If I live to be a hundred, I will never understand the Corporate Mind.

Why not a crossover? :) Wouldn't Riddick be at home on Serenity? And who wouldn't want to see the Shepherd and the Imam sitting around the table discussing philosophy?

Seriously, though, much as I love PITCH BLACK and think that CoR has some interesting ideas, by the end of the movie, they've largely gutted everything that's really interesting about Riddick from the story. While the director of CoR had big plans for an epic third part to the "legend" of Riddick, I don't know that it'd be very interesting.

Conversely, I know that Joss has the good sense to head back to strong character stuff in another Serenity sequel rather than having them saving the universe and blowing up the Death Star next time.

Okay, seriously? Fan as I am of Vin Diesel, and cool as the character of Riddick can be at times, and definitely was in Pitch Black, I was far from impressed by the first Chronicles of Riddick. It was not a movie that lent itself to being watched over and over, I didn't truly give a damn about any of the characters, and the plot was laughable at best. Who in their right minds who had seen both films would actually prefer Riddick over Serenity???
