No, just because it has the same character doesn't make it part one. If it was it would've been called Chronicles of Riddick, and the next one would be part 2.

i never said i didn't want more, i just don't think a second film would be a good idea. Miniseries, absolutely, resurrection of the original series, fuck yes, but i'm just not sure about the film venue.
That, and Riddick needs to be concluded. it's way too fuckin long overdue. At least with Serenity we had some closure lol.

If we get anything more it'd most likely be a movie, not a miniseries or a new season. Just wouldn't be viable.

The second one progressed from the first one, you're getting caught in the minutia.

ok dude, i'll concede. on my Pitch Black DVD case u know what it says? it says "Chronicles of Riddick: Pitch Black" verbatim. happy? and yes, the second one did progress from the first so technically theyre within the same series.

"The Chronicles of Riddick
PITCH BLACK

The Chronicles of Riddick
DARK FURY

The Chronicles of Riddick
RIDDICK"

It's a valid part of the story if you like animation, and can easily be skipped if you don't.

Either way, it was included on the DVD I got at Target for $13, so I didn't mind.

That would be the rerelease case, which they did when CoR came out.
This one:

Which is the original cover, and the one I have, has no mention of Riddick on it except for a small picture of him on the back. They don't even refer to him by name, just "a vicious convict".

Same series, yes. Sequel? No.

I've read something recently on this, I don't remember exactly where but it was an interview with Vin Diesel by one of the gillions of hollywood insider type web mags. The interview was within the last two to three weeks. The interview had something to do with the recent (April 7th) release of the Riddick video game "Assault on Dark Athena."

I belive Diesel said David Twohy was just putting the finishing touches on the scripts for two movies and they were hoping to sell them and start pre-production in 2010. During an earlier interview Twohy said these productions probably wouldn't be as big as Chronicles of Riddick and wouldn't be done by Universal.

Actually in my opinion these two projects (albeit one is ficticious at this point) are good comparisons to make. I believe COR and Serenity were disappointments in domestic box office sales, better than expected internationally and on DVD, and both involve fan bases that kind of took off. Firefly/ Serenity on one hand, and the Riddick franchise with video games and such on the other. Lots of untapped potential in my opinion.

As for what I would rather see???? Serenity 2 of course.

You are an ugly-looking little quim. You know that?
