In most areas of your life I am sure you are a dynamic, caring, intelligent individual. But politically, you are a scared little boy that wants Mommy & Daddy to make you safe.
And Mommy is a Capitalist, while Daddy is a Republican.
Say it isn't so.

Ok, if you're going to push both your braincells to the limit to woefully attempt to insult me, at least try to make it have some resemblance to reality.
What's the matter? Has Rush Limpdicks cock dried up too much this month so it can't splat todays opinion out for you?

Yet you continue to try to incite an argument. Heh, even there you catch yourself in your own lie.
Maybe if the only insult you had wasn't to describe yourself and then puts someone elses name in front of it, you'd be capable of hitting the mark once in awhile, but I guess not. You just keep tuning into Rush Limbaugh so he can tell you what you think yeah, and don't break a habit of a life time and think for yourself for once, that could cause you some serious injury, AUTroll!

Danged if *I* know what a "conclussion" is - it's your word, so maybe you could explain it. I thought maybe you were trying to say you had a CONCUSSION, but messed it up a bit - on account of having a concussion, of course!

Yes, it was pretty evident that it was a typo when you wrote it. Do you not check your work? Do you not take pride in communicating effectively? Most intelligent English-speaking people are capable of turning on Spell-Check, too. Some of them are even capable of using the "Edit" button and fixing their errors.
As for context, for all I know you might have been trying to say you had a concussion. That's one of the hazards of you not being intelligent enough to spell correctly or use acceptable grammar - you lose the ability to effectively communicate your point!

Actually, Olbermann's ok. The other night he was reviewing the roster of MSLSD anchors and said the following :
Chris Mathews : He's the political expert
Rachel Madow : She's the policy wonk
Me : I'm the network asshole
He really did say those things. Only question is why do I know that? I admit I like watching him and his butchy lil' sister Rachel sometimes. They are highly entertaining. The more they use personal attacks, the more I laugh.

Fair enough, but what is your compulsive obsession with him anyway? Why do you and others really care about his opinions anyway? He's just a poster here, a voluminous one granted, but just another Browncoat in the verse. Your relentless hounding back at him is quite befuddling to me. Why? Why do you care? The only explanation is that he provides you and the rest with everything you need to feel good about yourselves. He validates your essence. He completes you, as a doppleganger from a parallel universe would. You and I have been down this road before, perhaps with me under a previous name, but the result is always the same. After a few hundred personal insults I just go away for a few weeks and post elsewhere. As I've said before I am no big fan of Mr Auraptor. In many ways he's as bad as you and your armada. He needs the daily hate as much as you do.

So... I strolled thru the open door into troll country... not sure that all that typing changed any minds. But if anyone really belongs in troll country, Whozit gets my vote. Never seen so many pointless posts from a single person in my whole life.
AFA Rapo is concerned... poor thing, his points routinely blow up in his face and he STILL hasn't learned. Bush bowed to the Pope. The economy tanked- as I predicted but much to HIS surprise. There weren't any WMDs in Iraq. I wonder that he doesn't get tired of being behind the 8-ball all the time. But there's no point in getting all worked up about his misunderstandings. Yes, endlessly repeated points sometimes get picked up as "truth" but... aren't WE all just a bit tougher-minded than that?
ETA- I just read your post.
What I'm TRYING to do is get rapo to practice just a little bit of logic and insight. I think the reason why he has such a hard time coming up with HIS goals and HIS rationale is because ... he doesn't have any. Unless he's propagandizing Limbaugh's latest screed or contending with those he sees as "the enemy" he doesn't know WHAT to think. That's a sad and rather scary state to be in. It's as if he's a vessel to be filled with the latest right-wing outrage. I actually feel kinda sorry for him.
It's important to know the truth. It's important to know that there IS such a thing as "truth". It's not just a matter of opinion. The universe doesn't give a crap WHAT you think or HOW you feel. Any progress we make is because people let go of their tiny prejudices and narrow self-interests. The take themselves, their opinions, their desires and fears, OUT of the center of the universe, set them aside as best they can and try to see beyond.

Why do I care? Why do I argue with him? Why do I refute him at every turn?
Simple. Because his particular, peculiar kind of bullshit, repeated often enough and without vigorous and vociferous opposition, may be seen and heralded by some as truth. And that I simply cannot abide, not as long as I've strength to argue the point.

Whichever it is, you don't come across very well.

So continually using the wrong word, even when it's been repeatedly pointed out to you as being the wrong word, says NOTHING about your being smart or dumb? Like when you wrote this:
Quote:
But that would seem to argue my point. What do you know about Auraptor that would lead you to feel so strongly and personally against him, other then his political views? You genuinely dislike a person for no other reason then that this person’s political beliefs differ from yours. What you are describing is ideological bigotry or fundamentalism.
Twice in that same post, you misused the word "then" instead of using the correct word, "than". This indicates pretty clearly that you're either dumb, or you're just being an asshole and refusing to use the correct word in a fit of spitefulness.
I’m still waiting to hear how you feel justified in your assholish response to those who point out your continuous typos or how you can be completely befuddled and fail to grasp the usage of words no matter how many times their correct usage is pointed out to you.

For those that are paying attention, what Finn is doing is attacking me to make himself feel superior. Obviously, effective communication and proper use of the English language aren't a big concern to Finn, or he would be displaying better language skills instead of being such a defensive prick about it. He attacks and ridicules anyone who doesn't fall in line with his authoritarian world view, which is truly an asshole quality. And he can't be taught anything new, especially by anyone on this board, all of whom he regards as not worthy of his time or his best efforts, and thus he refuses to even TRY to communicate effectively or properly. I've tried - repeatedly - to gently point out his errors in a humorous, offhand way, in an effort to make him a better communicator, but instead he's attacked me, become a brutish asshole and a prick, and steadfastly refused to correct himself. Sounds to me like Finn is a total asshole.

All day today I wrote 90% light and sarcastic stuff, and what do I get for it? Any sort of fair debate or ribbing back? "You ask the same question over and over again, until you confuse the issue, while simultaneous declaring the other parties opinion for them" should read, "You ask the same question over and over again, until you confuse the issue, while simultaneously declaring the other party's opinion for them."
Also, I've noticed that you regularly capitalize words like "Nazi" and "Gestapo" and other authoritarian watchwords, yet you rarely capitalize the names of users here, other Browncoats. It may be Freudian on your part, but it indicates that you hold fascists and tyrants in higher regard than you do Browncoats. Curious, that.
Is Finn listening to a thing I’ve said in this thread? From the very first post that I made in this thread, he has completely ignored everything I’ve said. Finn takes the asshole approach of not listening, and actually attacks those who try to point out his errors or correct him, calling THEM assholes and pricks for trying to help him communicate more effectively.
Also, what are Finn's posts about me, other than him trying to find some way to invalidate me? Rather than simply correct his "simple typos" and move on, Finn has spent post after post after post attacking me, calling me a prick and an asshole, desperately casting about for ANY possible method by which he can invalidate me.
Just look at his hostile, often very personal attitude towards me. You, Finn, came right out and said that I'm a prick and an asshole. For what?? while simultaneous declaring the other parties opinion for them. Such as you accusing me of wanting to murder or not caring about the murder of millions of people. This has never been my position. It’s simply the position that you assigned to me.
But I'm glad that you brought it up. You've often said "Human life is sacred" You're willing to extend the definition of "human life" to an undifferentiated blob of cells, but if that life happens to belong to a criminal then his or her life is NOT sacred, because it's not human life that's sacred to you, but only INNOCENT human life. But then, even "innocent human" life is forfeit if its collateral damage to some other higher cause. So even innocent human life isn't "sacred" either, apparently, because "sacred" means of the highest worth.
Then we went through a long discussion about criminals, and how they might not be responsible for their actions. Unfortunately, for the same reasons they may not be rehabilitable either. Yanno what YOU got out of that discussion? That I was making a good argument for the death penalty! Why did you jump to that, instead of assuming that the answer would be "life in prison without parole"? Because keeping prisoners alive is an economic drain???
The sum total of your arguments is NOT that "human life is sacred" but that it is in fact expendable for certain goals that YOU think are more important. That's not saying that you "want" to kill millions of people or that you "don't care", but it also says that other goals (efficiency, "freedom", punishment etc.) are more important to you in some cases.
Quote:Since I don't even do that to YOU, you'll prolly have a hard time finding examples of where I "do that" to rapo. But- be my guest. If you can come up with examples post 'em here.
I’m sure you do the same to auraptor.

It's discussion and if you're being asked over and over a question you really want to wriggle out of, I can imagine that that would be quite uncomfortable. Like when the Police know you are lying, and keep trying to trip you up by asking the same question over and over, which is where he's probably getting Gestapo from, but he want's to make out you're more of a Nazi at the same time.
What people often fail to notice, just like politicians in fact, is that if them just answered the fucking question, you'd stop asking it

Quote:I’m not stating anyone’s opinion. This is what I see people doing, not opining. These calling out Auratpor threads are not opinions, they are threads. And there should never be threads on this board seeking to call out an individual for ridicule.

And you're doing what rapo does: repeat the same argument over and over as if that means something. I'm willing to back up my contention with examples, are you? Come up with examples to make your point.

In a perfect world we would never need to weigh the future happiness of many future lives with the loss of a few present unhappy lives. But in the real world, these are issues that arise.

Quote:No. The sum total of my argument is that human life is sacred, but that the world is not as simple as you try to portray it. You decided to accuse me of the imperfection of reality - and I don't think that is fair.
Originally posted by SignyM:
The sum total of your arguments is NOT that "human life is sacred" but that it is in fact expendable for certain goals that YOU think are more important.
But as I said, this isn’t all about you. What about Kwicko who has not addressed a single issue I’ve made in this thread, but attacked me for typos. How is Kwicko listening to anything that has been said? Kwicko is exhibiting troll behavior. What about Storymark who came out and stated unequivocally his personal dislike of Auraptor? In what way do these two represent people who listen to opposing arguments?
And it isn’t even all about this thread, what about the discussion on hydroelectric power in the other thread? I pointed out the need for new technology in batteries before solar and wind could compete with hydroelectric. The responses that I got were equivalent to ignoring the issue I brought up and instead criticizing hydroelectric power because I asserted that it was more reliable then solar or wind. The comparison between shutting dams down once ever several summers and solar power that only works when the sun is up was made, how is that even a valid comparison? How is this listening to anything I said?

The definition of "asshole" is attacking someone for pointing out an error.

Quote:Not really. You STATE an opinion. But when people want to find out the length, breadth and depth of a particular statement, you run out of gas pretty quickly. What people find especially troubling is that you don't derive your opinion from the wealth of data available to you. Rather, you select your data to support your opinion, and ignore reams of countervailing data as if it didn't exist.
I in fact DO explain my POV
Example: The whole world is in economic crisis. Banks (especially the EU-Basel II banks) have suddenly found themselves over-leveraged. World trade is in free-fall. Mortgage brokers, hedge funds, investment houses like Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, and insurance giants like AIG 's assets crumbled away. Bristish banks crumbeld under the weight of their own bad mortgages, all without Fannie and Freddie. Iceland and Ireland went into default. And you blame all of this: ALL of this, on two men- Dodd and Frank- two Democrats who were out of power when all of this was brewing. Two men who didn't have ANY control of any committees, who couldn't "keep" anything from reaching the floor if their lives depended on it. And yet, despite that this catastrophe (like all major catastrophes) occur because of MULTIPLE failures, you continue to assert- against all evidence- that two out-of-power Dems brought down the whole world.
THAT'S what makes you a laughing-stock rapo. You seem incapable of incorporating and responding to countervailing facts. Your response is to shut your eyes, plug your ears and hum loudly.
AND BTW FINN- THAT kind of response does NOT make for understanding and debate.
My problem with you guys (both of you) is that I feel that I understand your positions better than you do! I know your assumptions. I can see their logical extensions AND the contradiction they engender. I also know that you can't acknowledge some of your assumptions because of emotional reasons. The only thing I've learned from you is that there are scarily delusional people in the world.

This is why you insist upon asking the same question over and over again. You expect to hear the answer you want to hear, and if we don’t give you that answer, it’s not because we have a different point of view – it’s because we are scary and delusional crazy people. You can’t see my reasoning on the issue of human life because you insist upon apply an unrealistically childish model of reality, one in which no difficult choices are ever made. And you do that, because as long as you can confine my point of view in your mind to some simplest model it was never intended for, then you can right me off as scary delusional monster who wants to see people murdered. You have it all figured out.

Signy and gang are only here to attack their enemies and ridicule them into wanting to leave. That's what they do, that's all they do. And their new explanation for their juvenile antics is that they feel that those opposed to their beliefs need their help in seeing the light. It's laughable.

The term 'asshole' refers to a lot of people here much better, often those throwing it about.

"You genuinely dislike a person for no other reason then that this person’s political beliefs differ from yours."
I think enough people have had enough discussions with Rap where he made claims that were blatantly untrue, where he refused to back up his claims with any kind of objective fact, where he resorted to calling names, and where, when proven wrong, he disappeared - only to show up again later with the same RapFacts™ and same MO. That might possibly engender a certain amount of dislike.

He points out mine. I then do an oops, my bad, and correct them. And ... do you have a point ?

Quote:Not really. You go off track because you have deep contradictions within your own thinking that you can't acknowldge. Rapo really IS a delusional nutcase because he has to ignore large swaths of reality in order to maintain his mental model.

This is your excuse for not listening. This is why you insist upon asking the same question over and over again. You expect to hear the answer you want to hear
Quote:Actually, I DO see your view of human life quite well. Better than you, in fact, because I have no emotional attachment to your argument. So when you say "Human life is sacred... EXCEPT..." you have just said - by defintion- that human life is NOT sacred, human life is expendable. Now, the only question is: What are YOU willing to expend human life FOR? I never said that the decisions weren't painful or weren't made reluctantly. I never said that you would wantonly or casually expend human life. But, yes... you are willing to expend human life for something other than saving human life. Acknowledge it, if only to yourself, and drop the Human life is sacred mantra because that really IS a simplistic statement. It may make you feel all warm and fuzzy... righteous, even... but it doesn't reflect your value system.
You can’t see my reasoning on the issue of human life because you insist upon apply an unrealistically childish model of reality, one in which no difficult choices are ever made.
Quote:Well, do you advocate the death penalty? If yes, then- logically- you want to see some people murdered. Not everyone, of course. Just those you think aren't worthy enough.
And you do that, because as long as you can confine my point of view in your mind to some simplest model it was never intended for, then you can right me off as scary delusional monster who wants to see people murdered.
