Recently i've decided to watch some of Joss's other stuff and i picked up Buffy. I watched all of season 1 on hulu and loved it.
So yet again I've found myself addicted to one of Joss's shows.
I've just wrapped up season 3 and i have a question about what i should do next.
Do Season 4 of Buffy and Season 1 of Angel occur at the same time?
And if that's that case then should i watch Season 4 of Buffy and Season 1 of Angel at the same time?
Or should I just finish all of Buffy and then check out Angel?
(and please no spoilers of anything from Angel or Buffy past season 3. I'm actually posing this question this way to avoid accidental spoilers searching for the answer. In short i guess I need an opinion on what to watch next.)

To answer the first question: yes, S4 of "Buffy" is set concurrently to S1 of "Angel". To answer the second: it's up to you. You could finish "Buffy" first, or watch them together. There are a few crossovers during the 4 seasons that they're both on, and you wouldn't have much trouble following what's happening if you only watch "Buffy" (because most of the x-overs begin on "Buffy" and then finish up on "Angel"), but you'd probably enjoy them more if you watch them together.
Here's a quick guide if you want to watch both shows and get the crossovers to match up:
BtVS S4/AtS S1: Watch ep1 of "Buffy", then ep1 of "Angel. Ep2 of "Buffy", ep2 of "Angel", etc., alternating evenly right thru the end of the season.
BtVS S5/AtS S2: same as above.
BtVS S6/AtS S3: Watch ep4 of "Angel" ("Carpe Noctem") before watching ep4 of "Buffy" ("Flooded"). (Depending on where you look, "Flooded" might be listed as ep3 if they count the 2-part season premiere as a single ep; that's the way the DVDs have it.)
BtVS S7/AtS S4: Here's where it gets really tricky. Watch ep17 of "Buffy" ("Lies My Parents Told Me") before ep15 of "Angel" ("Orpheus"). Then watch ep22 of "Angel" ("Home") before ep21 of "Buffy" ("End of Days"). So basically you have to watch the "Angel" eps at almost a 2 to 1 rate between #'s 16 and 22 to keep it synched up with "Buffy".
Hope that helps!

I think you would enjoy watching Buffy's S4 and Angel's S1 together, because the cross overs are pretty awesome...
they actually impact each other in some ways.
During Buffy's S5 and Angel's S2 there are fewer cross-overs with almost no impact...
And then they stop doing cross-overs during Buffy's S6 because Buffy moved from the WB to UPN (a new network) and it wasn't possible any more. But I still think it is nice to continue to watch them in tandem myself. Because they actually managed to have a couple of cross overs in Buffy's S7.
I'm glad more people are giving Joss' other work a chance;
I think that Firefly is Joss' greatest creation, but that doesn't mean that the other work isn't awesome too, because it really is.
