"November 10, 2008: Bloomberg News Sues Bush, Paulson for Failure to Reveal Recipients of $2 Trillion Taxpayer Loans" 2 TRILLION in loans up to 8 trillion, unaccounted for, off the books, with no documentation, no requirements to pay back, no requirements to do ANYTHNG with the money such as lend it out. Those big fat bonuses ? I guess they gave it to themsleves for scoring such a great deal from Bush. "The legality of Treasury-negotiated equity deals for many US banks is questioned by tax attorneys, as well as nearly $2 trillion that Ben Bernanke of the Federal Reserve handed out in emergency loans before the $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP, was enacted (see October 3, 2008). The Fed refuses to reveal which corporations received loans, or what collateral has been presented. Sources say that this secrecy is a legal violation. The Federal Reserve’s lending is significant because the central bank has stepped into a rescue role that was also the purpose of the TARP bailout plan, although without safeguards put into the TARP legislation by Congress."

I'm not sure if you're old enouhg to remember how the mujahideen were framed as "brave freedom fighters" by Zbigniew Brzezinski (Say THAT fast three times! Someone will certainly offer you a tissue!) under Carter, and how we managed to ship Stinger missiles to them to help them "fight tyranny" under the Soviets but I do.

As far as Saddam Hussein.. again, I'm old enough to remember him as being framed as the "strongman" secular leader of Iraq, and our bulwark against the Ayatollah's revolution in Iran. (You may recall the negative press Iran got for sending in 12-year old boys en masse with the Koran in their hands to clear minefields in the Iran-Iraq war???)
