Fringe - looks pretty good.

Hello Dreamtrove:

Most of the information on the show and its characters you can get from Wikipedia, But I find there is questionalble reasons for Walter's confinement in a mental hospital. Also there are strained relations between Walter and his son, Peter. Olivia, the FBI agent, also has personal motives for her actions. Her partner, also love interest, appears to have been involved in illegal activities concerning the case they were working on. So we are invited in to the personal lives of these people. They are not just agents given a case. Walter is a major scientist who worked on top secret projects that match the strange occurances in the original case, So Olivia wanted him to help her with this case. That brought in the son who had to become his father's caretaker.

Seeing one episode in the middle of the series is probably going to bring up more questions then answers. If you want, go to FOX.com and watch some of the past episodes that are available and continue then watch the series as it continues. You may find the motivation that drives these people and keeps them together. There are times when the Peter wants to walk out because of his years of anger he has toward his father. In one episode a fellow patient in the same hospital Walter serving in may have a clue to a case they are working on. Walter has to return to the hospital because the patient would respond to him as a friend better then having an outsider question him. This is hard on Walter. He has to face the fear of entering an institution that kept him locked up and medicated for years. Passing through the doors and entering the place that damaged his life is a very courageous step for Walter. His purpose was to do lab work for the Olivia, not do investigations. But by this episode these people have become a team and Walter takes one for the team.

I can't make you like this show. This is personal decision. If you don't see any merit in it then who can say you are wrong. We each have our own taste.

Well said, traveler. And the episode you bring up is one of my favorite Walter episodes. Usually Walter is far more interested in the scientific aspect of the cases, but in that episode the fact that there was a missing boy involved must have triggered his paternal side so much that he was willing to go back into his own personal lion's den to try to save this child's life.

And I loved the post-credit's scene with Olivia and her sister/niece. It continues the theme of family in the series in that you not only have Walter and Peter trying to fix their relationship, but Olivia being able to separate her work from her personal life and just be able to hang with her sister and niece and play Operation and make pancakes and listen to Beyonce (although that "Single Ladies" song kinda distracts me because every time I hear it because I imagine the SNL sketch with Andy Samberg, the heavyset dude and JT dancing in unitards). And her work life crashing in one her personal life feels like a huge violation, thus fueling her drive to catch this particular guy.

Tonight's FRINGE was just as good as ever. The opening sequence on the plane has to be one of the creepier Pattern events so far. Just seeing those spines grow out of his back and then seeing that porcupine man burst out of the bathroom for a brief moment and then credits just scared the Hell out of me. And for once, I actually saw The Observer. The last two episodes I couldn't spot him, but this time he passed the guy before he went into the bathroom.

When you saw the plane crash, did you notice the tiny thing eject from the plane before it went down? What do you think that was?

As for the ep itself, it really showed a darker side to Olivia in that she was willing to let a suspect transform into a monster in order to get more info. And I liked that Peter got involved with the sting operation.

What did you think of it?

I think you just answered your own question. The Observer wasn't among the dead bodies in the plane wreck.

See, I don't think it was The Observer. He's not the "traditional mode of transportation" kind of guy. And the porcupine monster was among the dead, not miles away from the crash.

The ending reminded me of Doctor Who saying good-by to Rose. It seems such a good show, that I can not believe it can get better. But I think they becoming a team and that works well for the show. That they had to find a way to trust each other. Each taking risks. Even Astrid is getting more involved. How she deals with Walter, I don't know. He has knocked her out in one episode. She seems to have forgiven him.

I am still out on Massive Dynamics. I am expecting to see some mysterious man smoking a cigerette.

Yeah, I'm still not sure about MD as well. All signs point to them, and yet in this ep it seems like there's a third party involved.
