Mrs. Universe gives Bobby Sue an incredulous look.

"You mean to say that the Fruity Oaty Bar octopus followed the guy across whole dimensions? Seriously."

She shakes her head, then turns to SimonWho.

"My man was a brilliant hacker. He messed with all sorts of technology......some of which, I later learned, had surprising capabilities when you worked with them. It still needs some tweaking, the time machine does."

Suddenly, something crashes into the beach.

Mrs. U. turns around.
"WHAT THE HEY?!?!?!"

Mrs. Universe

Simonwho, stop telling such terrible lies! Honestly, these dear people will never trust the English again.

Actually Boxing Day stems from the tradition of challenging people to duels to sort out arguments. As you'll probably know in various times in the past it was frowned upon so people bought together against their will for the season would be at a loss for what to do over all the percieved greivences. It quickly became the established tradion alongside yule logs and christmas trees to hold 'friendly' boxing matches on the outskirts of the village where various men (women sadly were still confined to bitching, hair pulling and poisoning) would gather and challenge each other.

Nowadays boxing day has lost the formalised matches but it is still the traditional day for beating up siblings and nationally the cases of GBH reported to the police go up around 37%. Hospitals lay on extra staff and often people will actually phone ahead and arrange for their more short tempered relatives to be arrested in advance.

What, you didn't think it came from people being nice to the poor at Christmas time did you?

I know, don't you love the British? Trust us to make a tradition of the yearly family rivalries.

Perhaps we should re-gather on the tree for presents and Christmas pudding?

"That is not a bad idea!" TheRealMe discards his latest attempt at a flanball onto the sand of the beach, and he and other head back through the dimensional portal connecting the planet Sundown to the Sereni-Tree. People exit into the ship's voluminous common room.

"Well, we need a Christmas tree. Shall we wrap somebody up in tinsel and strings of lights, or shall we drag out of storage that metal sculpture that Jazaf once made for us?"

TheRealMe, Captain of the Sereni-Tree
