Like the Uber geek I am, I looked at my husband and said, "DID YOU HEAR THAT?" Of course, he was oblivious and I hit rewind. And then I jumped up and down in my seat saying, "that's a Jayne thing, it's a Jayne thing."
Oh, how I love Adam Baldwin.

This isn't the first time he's used the line (or a variation thereof) about damaging his calm.
I think it's cool that they based an episode around it!

Caught it and posted it in the other Chuck thread. It's weird, he actually said something close to that, in a previous episode, but then came right out w/ the line, word for word.

That's not the first time "Firefly" references have popped up on "Chuck". Last season, Team Chuck was being debriefed on the next mission to find a super-smart, government employee who ran away and started building a life of his own. (Sound familiar?) When told of the guy's dangerous intelligence, Casey replies, "What? Can he mess with our minds?" Or, something close to that. It's been nearly a year since I saw that eppy, but I clearly remember my friends and I--who are all browncoats--all gasped at his reference to River.

I know, I was so excited! He has ALMOST said it a couple of times and then he finally actually said it and I started to screech, and everybody shushed me.
I cannot love that show any more than I do already.

You need to listen more carefully. Nearly every episode has a Firefly reference somewhere.
