Okay, maybe I'm late to the party with this, but look what I was reading- if ya haven't seen it already:

Monday, November 24, 1986
Big thing of the day was 2 hour meeting in the situation room on the Iran affair. George S. is still stubborn that we shouldn't have sold the arms to Iran- I gave him an argument. All in all we got everything out on the table. After meeting Ed & Don told me of a smoking gun. On one of the arms shipments the Iranians pd. Israel a higher price than we were getting. The Israelis put the difference in a secret bank acct. Then our Col. North gave the money to the "Contras." This was a violation of the law against giving the Contras money without an authorization by Congress. North didn't tell me about this. Worst of all, John found out about it & didn't tell me. This may call for resignations.

His diaries read like a High School assignment- there's no analysis of process or consequences, no feeling on almost anything, just dry description of stuff. His spelling is very good, though.

My opinion of Reagan has mellowed...he was a strong visage, and a good speaker. He was charismatic, but he had little connection to the history that was being made at the time. I find it hard to blame him for some of the horrors that he was obviously being shielded from. He WAS the puppet theatre.

I wonder if you'll feel the same about "W" in a few years? Maybe he's not as evil as you think, and maybe Barry IS as evil as I think.

In my more serious moments I've actually characterized him as a dangerious idiot, not so much 'evil'.

'Barry' is no more evil than you are, IMHO.

Haven't read the diaries but it sounds like I should.

AFA "dubya" is concerned: I do not believe Bush was the mastermind of his administration. That title goes to Cheney. However, I think Bush was either pathological enough or self-deluded enough that he could "go along with" whatever Cheney suggested, no matter how heinous.

"THE ZIT" is not evil, but is a bad speller.

They show the man for the simple thinker that he was. But he did come up with the funny or two...
