He got more votes in more states, and won more Electoral College votes (more than a 2-to-1 margin).
You have no case.

I'd like to do something similar with the cretins who voted for Bush in 2004. Except it might be hard finding any who would admit it.
Honestly, he got elected just like all of 'em do. They got the money and the media behind em. What else is there?

Well, Rapo and Hero will readily admit it - although Hero swears that "intellegence" had little to do with it. Which is pretty obvious...

Yeah, that was such a good line...we were discussing prewar intellegence failures...but I had to write it.

I voted for Bush. At the time I did I knew who was in his cabnet, who controlled Congress, who the major world players were. I knew lots of stuff, same as this year.
What voters knew or did not know now or then is not relevant. A voter can vote for the candidate of their choice for ANY reason, even bad ones or none at all. These reports, and the one from Zogby is really telling, are not truly critical of the voters. They represent a failure of both candidates, who failed to communicate their messages, and the media, who failed to accurately and fairly report the news.
But this is not a new story. Voter manipulation has always been a part of American politics. If you think its bad now...watch 'Mr. Smith Goes to Washington', which was a commentary on their times that applies to ours as well.

Ignorant voting is partly the media's fault. Every cycle someone does an anlysis which shows most coverage as the "horse race" kind, then there is negative "personality- identity-voting" coverage, and issues are a distant third. Every election cycle peeps decry the coverage, but the next election we get the same old crap- again.

I do sort'a wish Zogby had done a baseline of the same questions with all voters for comparison, although I'm afraid the results would have been just as discouraging as these. Almost - but not quite - makes going back to literacy tests for registration seem like a good idea.

Hero, you've been a remarkably good sport about it, I must say. I'll try my best to not bring it up again, ever, just because you've been decent about it and proven that you do indeed have a sense of humor, even when it's at your own expense. Any man who can laugh at his own mistakes can't be all bad.
And I apologize for mentioning it in this thread. It's old, it's over, and it's time for it to die.
Maybe there's hope for all this "working together" thing yet.
