I'm not defending Bush in any way here Chris, but there was no surplus. A lot of the financial turmoil we are feeling today is due partly to policies Clinton helped put in place years before Bush was in office.
Even if there really was a budget surplus under the man, it was just a fudging of the books back in the days when the guys on top still felt it necessary to fudge the books to get taxpayer dollars. Today, sadly, they don't even feel the need to lie anymore to us in order to spend trillions of dollars bailing out criminals on our dime and giving them nice bonuses in the process.
Besides... to have a "surplus" we would have to have no national debt in the first place. I relize that under the Bush Jr's watch the deficit exploded, but there was never any surplus.

Still pissed at him for NAFTA, and never once denied he was in some undefineable way, really sleazy.
As for pic-posting, I load these to photobucket, and then just paste the "direct link" code (second one down) and the forum displays the image quite handily.

Ah - I thought your sentence about Bush doing stand-up was a sort of caption. I know what you mean about the sleaze...sleaze we can believe in. Had to dial my estimation of him down yet another notch during the recent national ordea - er, campaign. Thanks for the how-to - I tried doing the same basic thing with a link obtained through Google image search, which apparently ain't how things get done.
It was like that when we got here!

A man, a Party, or their supporters are DOWN because an election was lost???
No man, it's YOU who are sad.
A man, a Party, or their supporters should be more concerned with a tanked economy, a miserable war, and our lost face in this world more than that a party has had a s**t President that effed us or a candidate that got brow-beaten into losing his real self to the race & picking someone for VP that actually makes Dubya look good by comparison.
I posted this in fun & rememberance- you swallow it as medicine if ya like, but it'd be better if you could laugh.
And have a talk with AU concerning my era of good feeling post-election post asking for unity and harmony among Browncoats. He seems on a one-man mission to not let it happen, so I guess anything's game. We're not gonna acknowledge facts, STILL?? Okay, then chalk up my 'unification' thread to election euphoria.

Oh I see. Because of one person here you have decided to renege on your unification thread and all the good points it had, simply chalk it up to temporary euphoria. How convenient for you.

"It's a nice gesture on your part, but I believe it's not really feasible.
It will be hardest for people of my generation to accept this swing to the Left in America."
So it's not feasible & you can't easily accept it.
Huh. Sounds like it wasn't just one guy.

The Repos effed up after effing up, and in typical short-sightedness & underestimating of the general intelligence they didn't expect this backlash.
If I were YOU, I'd fix my party, not cry that it's down. I'd disown the jerks now in the drivers' seat, & demand new ones, REAL Republicans, not the NeoCons or the hate-mongers. Your boy McCain would have won with the right attitude & proper VP candidate, so learn & change, don't moan when we point out the flaws. I don't want a totally Dem controlled government- but I'll take that over the doofs that pass for Conservatives at the moment.
Re-invent & come back.

At 62, W needs no further employment. He's served his country w/ distinction and honor for the past 8 yrs, and before that, as Gov. of Texas for 1 1/2 terms.
This cowboy now needs only to ride off into the sunset and start to enjoy life.
Godspeed, W!
